Blood Pressure Monitor and Glucose Monitor Becomes Our “Toys” As We Grow Old

Aging is part of the human being’s life cycle. It can not be avoided, everyone will grow old, some reaching 60’s, 70’s, 80’s or even a century on earth! If you reached one hundred years, then you are so blessed to have stayed that long on earth and enjoy seeing the growth of your family and grandchildren.

How to Stay Long on Earth

Being more than fifty or even as early as forty years old, some people are so conscious of their health. They wanted to have long lives, to stay longer on earth, and they take some healthy steps to achieve it like having a healthy diet and exercise.

They are so conscious; they always monitor their blood pressures, if it does not go above the normal level or if it is too low. They always have the blood pressure monitor handy so they can immediately take blood pressure-lowering medicines or be cautious in their movements to avoid falls or stumbling when they feel dizzy, a common feeling for those with high blood or low blood pressures.

Glucose Monitor/Meter

For people who wanted to know their blood sugar levels, they check it using a blood glucose meter or monitor. The glucose meter indicates if the blood sugar rises or hyperglycemic, or the reverse, when the person has low blood sugar or hypoglycemia.

The person pricks his finger using a very thin needle, and the blood is placed at the strip which is inserted at the glucose meter. Then the blood sugar level appears on the monitor. The normal blood sugar level is 105mg/dL. Blood sugar level is usually taken after eight to ten hours of fasting.

Some people who are diabetic monitor their sugar levels after eating, or even after exercise to know its beneficial effect.

It is so hard, as we grow old, to have such health issues like high blood pressure and increased sugar levels. In such cases, the blood pressure monitor and the glucose meter becomes our constant companion, our “toys!”

      • One of the secrets to a healthy and long life is eating the right kind of food, in right amounts. Eat natural foods, not in the processed form, without chemical additives if possible. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables and other foods with lots of fiber and less sugar.
Exercise and being active is also needed for one to stay healthy; away from maintenance drugs.

Thanks, Raphael Agbetor for your reply.

    • We all want a happy healthy long life, and for this we must monitor our health. I am glad I never high blood presuure or diabet. Nice article, encouraging to care about own health.

      • Thank you Fortune for your reply. It is so nice to know you do not have health issues like high blood pressure and diabetes. It is really hard to have such lifestyle diseases.

It can be avoided only if people will stick to healthy eating and be active or have lots of exercise, even for 30 minutes a day.
