South Africa Beat West Indies in 1st ODI Match of series,2010

South Africa was scheduled to play a 7 Match ONE DAY International in West Indies in 2010. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as they are ranked at 2 and 5. The 1st ONE DAY international match was to be played on Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, West Indies on 22nd May 2010. South Africa holds the upper hand as they are more balanced team and playing very well as well.

West Indies won the toss and opts to bowl first; this is how South Africa team and 11 was looking like in this 1st ONE DAY  international match: Graeme Smith (c), Jean Paul Duminy, Jacques Kallis, Charl Langeveldt, AB de Villiers (wk), Johan Botha, D Miller, Loots Bosman, H Amla, Ryan McLaren, Roel of van der Merwe

 

And West Indies team and 11 was looking like this in this 1st ONE DAY  international Match: Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle (c), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Darren Sammy, Narsingh Deonarine, Jerome Taylor, Kieron Pollard, Sulieman Benn, Kemar Roach, Andre Fletcher (wk), Nikita Miller

South Africa batted well and was able to post total of 280 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 7 wickets and with top scores of Ab DE Villiers who made 102 runs in 101 balls with 5 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 101 runs in 100 balls and H Amla who made 102 runs in 109 balls with 8 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 94 runs in 100 balls.

West Indies was needed to score 281 runs in 20 over’s to win this match.

West Indies batted well but was unable to chase the target of 281 runs and was only able to make 215 runs in 44.1 over’s at the loss of 10 wicket and lost the game by 66 runs with D and L method with top contributions from C Gayle who made 45 runs in 39 balls with 8 4’s and 0 sixes at the strike rate of 115 runs in 100 balls.

South Africa won the match by 66 runs and series stands at 1-0 in favor of South Africa with 6 more games to play.
