What happens to siblings when they leave home and start a life of their own? They seem to be buried in their new found responsibilities that they have no time for those who were so close to them once upon a time. How can they forget those childhood days when they played together, had some secrets to share, some mischief done together, carried tales so that the other sibling got punished and that grin on the face when the punishment was meted out. What happened to the games they played together with neighbours’ children the romping and screaming together, the shopping escapades and the little ones depending so much on the elder sister for choosing their dresses – All this is history now.
Competition and jealousy has started showing its ugly head stopping at nothing, spoiling opportunities for one another, comparing their spouses and looking down or belittling them. Where has the pride disappeared? The pride to showcase the little ones who would be dressed to kill and shown to friends expecting a compliment. Animosity has taken over now, hatred for one another. Where did it all begin. May be difference in standards of living, one being richer than the other?. Why can’t one help the other? It has gone too far. That will never happen. None is on talking terms. Why should materialism interfere with pure love that was! Parents watch with mute despair of the happening their hands being tied as their children are adults now and should solve their own problems. What went wrong and where. Could they have nipped it in the bud when they saw some signs or they just thought that would pass off. Instead that simmered into something bitter, something they never thought in their wildest dreams would happen to their family.The lid is closed.
There are situations however where there is no scope for jealousy specially when all siblings do well both financially and/or in any other way. But such situations are hard to come by and it is believed that this inequality is mostly due to parents preferring one sibling over another thereby the sibling who is less cared for ceases to believe that they are good and can perform as well as their other siblings if not better.
There is a ray of hope for parents whose children are still under their wings to keep a vigil on these signs.

Luckily, in our clan, most of the children although have grown up are still so close to one another. They may not be with each other always, but when they do, they share stories and laugh non-stop.
Though, there is one family amongst our clan who are divided because the eldest, a son is so greedy. He wants more as his inheritance from the dead mother's properties. Same with that from his father.
In fact, he is the only opposing one amongst the clan in peacefully agreeing for the share computed for a big resort that the clan owns and will be selling.
But still I am praying that he will mellow and be agreable with the division per family because it was anyway divided equally.
It has more to do with preoccupation and wanting to spend time with their own nuclear family. With just one or two children in a family they cling to each other and therefore have no time for their siblings.
