England beat South Africa in 1st ODI match in Bilateral series

England was scheduled to play a 5 Match One Day International Series in South Africa in 2016. This series was important as both teams were preparing for the T 20 World Cup to be played later in India in 2016. The 1st One Day International Match was to be played on Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein, South Africa on 3rd Feb, 2016.

England started very well and played aggressively to set total of 399 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 9 wickets and top score by J butler  who made 105 runs in 76 balls with 11 4’s and 5 six at the strike rate of 138 runs in 100 balls.

And Alex H who made 57 runs in 47 balls with 6 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 121 runs in 100 balls.

South Africa was needed to score 400 runs in 50 over’s to won this 1st One Day International Match.

South Africa batted well but target of 400 runs in never easy to chase and kept loosing wickets at regular intervals in the game and was only able to make 250 runs at the loss of 5 wickets and top scored by Q D Kock who made unbeaten 138 runs in 96 balls with 12 4’s and 6 six at the strike rate of 144 runs in 100 balls and F D plesis who made 55 runs in 44 balls with 7 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 125 runs in 100 balls.

England won the match and take lead of 1-0 in series.
