India Beat South Africa in Great 1st ODI Match in 2000, Bilateral Series.

South Africa was scheduled to play 5 One Day International Matches in India in 2000.

It was a very interesting series as both these teams were playing some great cricket on that time. The 1st match of 5 One day international Series was played on Nehru Stadium, Kochi on 9th March, 2000.

South Africa started very well and handsomely with Garry K and H Gibbs and was no wickets loss till 200 runs on the board. South Africa lost its 1^st wicket on the team score of 235 runs in 39.3 over’s and were able to set total of 301 runs in allotted 50 over’s of the game thanks to Garry K who made 115 runs in 123 balls with 12 4’s and strike rate of 93 runs in 100 balls and H Gibbs who scored 111 runs in 127 balls with 11 4’s and 2 sixes and strike rate of 87 runs in 100 balls.

India was required to score 302 runs in 50 over’s to win this match.

India started very aggressively and quickly but kept on losing wickets but didn’t allow the run rate per over to reach beyond their control and went on to chase the total in 49.4 over’s at the loss of 7 wickets and Ajay J top scored with 92 runs in 109 balls and Robin Singh made unbeaten 42 runs in 43 balls.

India won the match by 3 wickets and Ajay J was the man of the Match for his great knock.
