Heceta Head Lighthouse is a lighthouse that sits high on a bluff, looking out toward the Pacific Ocean. It seems like there are many lighthouses that sit on bluffs, and most of them are the shorter of all the lighthouses in the U.S.
Heceta Head Lighthouse is another haunted house of the many that occupy Oregon, however, this one has a comforting ghost that lives here. Yes, she’s suppose to be a nice ghost. I’ve been to several lighthouses, but I didn’t know they were haunted until after I visited them, because I’m not sure if I would have gone inside them if I knew ahead of time that they had a ghost occupying the same space I could possibly be standing in.
Stories have been told that the lighthouse keeper’s wife is still here at Heceta Head, and she’s looking for her daughter that drowned. The child’s mother killed herself, and her spirit seems to occupy the premises now.
They say that the skeptics seems to see her more than those that believe in ghosts or spirits. One of the employees said that he’s seen her in the attic. Not sure why she would be hanging out in the attic though. Doesn’t seem to be the most likely place a ghost would want to hide out.
This lighthouse was built back in 1892, and only stands 56 ft. tall, which is short for a lighthouse. But no matter how short it is, it’s the most photographed lighthouse on the west coast of the United States.
The keepers house is now a Bed & Breakfast, and those that have seen the ghost, have said that she gives you a comforting feeling. She makes them feel welcome there, during their stay. I, personally, could not imagine having a meal with a ghost looking over my shoulder, nor spending the night at an Inn, that hosts a ghost.

The lighthouse is a magnificent building and the fact that so many of them have stood for such a long time means they were built to last. Makes you wonder why all buildings aren't constructed to last.
