The Amazing Capilano Suspension Bridge in Canada

The Capilano Suspension Bridge, is located in Vancouver, Canada. It got it’s name, because it crosses the Capilano River, is 460 ft. across, and standing 230 ft above the river, it definitely gives a new definition to the word, acrophobia (fear of heights).

There has been several deaths that have occurred either around, near, or on this suspension bridge through the years. One guy lost his footing when he climbed over a fence to get his debit card that he had dropped, which happened just a few years ago.

This bridge that has been purchased from one person to another, since 1888, is now owned by Nancy Stibbard, and it has been under her care since 1983. Nancy has also started purchasing cabin and lodges in the area, to assist her guests with places to stay.

This is on my bucket list to just see in photos, which now I’ve done, thanks to a friend that lives in Canada that emailed them to me. I’m petrified of heights, so the thought of being able to walk across this suspension bridge is scary enough. Also, I got very scared when I seen the admission. It’s as high as $39.95 for adults, and as low as $13.95 for children 6 – 12, and it goes up from there. If you’re a senior citizen, you save $3.00, making the cost $36.96. Make sure you have your i.d. with you to show proof of age. Children under the age of 6 are free, but highly doubt that I would even consider taking my child under the age of 6 on this bridge.

The admission fee includes the other attractions, such as the Calipano Cliff Walk, and the Treetops Adventure. If you haven’t seen what those look like, a search on Google is worth a look. They are just as spooky as the bridge is.

The Calipano Suspension Bridge Park was the 2013 Trip Advisor Traveler’s Choice Winner.

    • Wow! This bridge is really amazing!
I think my foot will be shaking when across this bridge, I think I am a acrophobia when I am there. 230 ft is really high to me. Is it a hanging bridge?
It sure in my visiting list if I go and visit Vancouver, Canada as I am a natural lovers, I will like to visit the national parks instead of highest building in the world or those shopping malls for branded bags.
In fat, there is a hanging bridge in my country, i.e located at Langkawi Island, Kedah,Malaysia. It’s worth to pay a visit if you are visiting Malaysia one day!
Welcome to Malaysia, our motto of the visiting Malaysia year is :”A truly Asia”, because we have the culture which reflects the colour of Asia, we have 3 major races, India, Malay and Chinese ,diverse cultures, nice foods, beautiful beach, scene and forest. All these are the attraction for the tourists, I believe.
