Helping And Giving Until It Hurts

The other Sunday, the second collection of the Sunday masses of the Catholic churches will be donated to those places here in the Bicol Region that were badly and directly hit by typhoon Nina.

The priest in the Sunday mass that I attended, requested all the parishioners to give till it hurts, because he said when we do so, we leave our faith to God to take care of us too. And God loves people who help until it hurts.

He further said that the rich can give as much as they want without hurting their pockets. But the common people, when they give will have to really scrimp, so as to be able to sustain their needs until their next pay again.

What we should have in mind is we still have our homes, our belongings and loved ones but those people badly hit by typhoon Nina have still up to now damaged houses because their places were damaged as the typhoon brought a lot of rain.

In some places, there is no electricity yet and it is one factor for the people to have difficulty in cleaning their houses, since the flood brought a lot of mud.

We were lucky that in our province specially our place, wasn’t badly hit, but still my heart goes out to those people in other provinces who were hit badly.

I gave more than what I have been normally giving on Sundays and prayed that the people needing our help can really be helped by the money we all gave.

Giving till it hurts will have its very good cause. Can’t help willingly giving till it hurts on that Sunday and it feels so good doing that as I would always do whenever a calamity struck and we were asked by the church to give till it hurts.

Do you also give donation till it hurts?
