NOT LETTING PEOPLE PULL YOUR TONGUE

Every so often someone will ask you a question. Often it is what you think of (insert name) so as to ‘pull your tongue’, that is, to get you to say something.

You can not trust many people.

Some are looking for occasion against you, some are ‘agents’ of another. Although the question might seem harmless, just part of a casual discussion about nothing much, it is an interrogation.

Anything you say Can and Will be used against you.

Just imagine your ‘friend’ Marie, asking you, off hand about Stephen’s decision to……

You might speak before you think and answer. You might give your honest answer. That answer, maybe word for word, maybe with added words, may be repeated to Stephen.

You can not answer every question with; “I don’t know,” or “What do you think?” for after the second or third time, the Questioner will know you are; Hiding Something.

This is worse than trashing Stephen’s idea.

Okay. What do you do when asked these kinds of questions?
Turn it into a philosophical discussion.

There is no bigger waste of time and words than those philosophical discussions. Nothing is said. Empty ideas are floated like balloons. And if you get good at it, you can keep up boring yammer until you escape the Interrogation.

How?

Marie says; “What do you think of Stephen’s decision?”

You say; “This is a question on perspective. People seem to forget they each view an incident from their own particular position. The way I see something is not the way you see it, because we have different positions in the viewing and considering of the idea. For example….”

(and you go off on some long twisted pointless recountation of an event only slightly connected to the discussion; for example;

“The supermarket blocked a particular exit. For many people it was unnoticed. That is, as most people would leave and turn West. But those who would to go East would be discomforted, because they would have to go to the corner, turn south, drive to the end of the block before they could turn East. Now it depends on which direction you were going how you viewed the blocking of the exit.”

If you can get Marie into that discussion you have ‘won’ the round. If she goes back to the Stephen issue, you let her finish, you pause, and then you return to the Supermarket.

“That is the point of perspective. If you always went West you wouldn’t notice. The other day I wanted to go East, so it annoyed me. And then I wondered how long the exit had been blocked. It isn’t totally inconvenient but….”

If she does make another stab at the Stephen issue, then you ask her what she thinks, and pick every word, so that she is forced to explain over and again, and then you say something about a ‘dialectic’; that is an exploration of both sides of the argument.

At the end of the blabberthon, she hasn’t a clue of your opinion so can’t ‘report’ to Stephen if you are ‘for’ or ‘against’ him. And she will learn not to bother asking you anything again.

Always be conscious that there are people who often ask a question to entrap you.

    • yes you are right These are worthless people Their job is to entrap others They involve you in some discussion and seek your opinion on somebody or on the decision of somebody
These are very dangerous. We come across such people in everyday life Their behavior in office will be quite dangerous. They seek your opinion with sweet words and again use it against you. They even report it to the higher authorities only to create a bad impression on you To deal with such people one should be quite clever and knack. It these tools is employed properly we can be safe and if not we will be nowhere.
There are occasions in which due to this tongue pulling people have lost their promotional opportunities and even jobs. This is a very dangerous attitude which should be discouraged.
If they repeat our words as they were told, there is no harm but this does not happen on many occasions They add some more words and give it additional color to the words. This is very dangerous
To discourage such thing I generally keep my cellphone right in front of me on the table if anybody, by chance take an opportunity of seeking my opinion on somebody. The moment I put my Cellphone on the table they stop talking. They discuss what they want and leave the place. This is found to be quite an effective way of dealing with such Agents. Sometimes, I even before their talk, I ask them to listen to the voice of other (which is nothing but only a big drama) that I had recorded indirectly giving them a hint that the same will be applied to them also.
I could overcome this problem very easily
In case, I do not possess any phone or if it is not readily available I just listen to them and ask them to meet me after an hour or so to discuss the issue. It is just gaining time to fix the other person.
