Quitting time is 4:30. Many workers are out of the building by 4:28. Others are in the bathroom from 4:25.
Peggy has work to finish so is at her desk, and begins to pack up when the Boss From Hell shouts her name.
It is 4:31. If she had the brains she was born with she would slip out of the building, for where the BFH is, he can’t see her desk. And if tomorrow he asks; “Didn’t you hear me call you yesterday?” She could ask ‘When?’
The BFH knew, when he shouted her name that it was past 4:30. He’s a Boss From Hell, he knows exactly what he’s doing.
But Peggy is a fool. She answers.
Peggy does not get out of the building until 7 pm. She’s tired, hungry, and gets home about 8 pm and eats something and goes to bed, so that she can be back at work at 8:30am.
Peggy doesn’t get paid for overtime.
When people speak to Peggy about the BFH, she looks with these big eyes and nods. To Peggy the work is important. She thinks that the BFH agrees. No. What is important to a Boss From Hell is to dominate and oppress his staff.
That is the point.
The BFH can not oppress Linda. Linda’s husband comes for her at 4:30 so she is downstairs by then. Once the Boss From Hell called Linda into his office about ‘running out’ and Linda, in a loud voice said, “My Husband collects me at 4:30 which is Quitting time.”
Linda’s husband is big and young so the BFH doesn’t have a chance.
The Boss From Hell can not Oppress Megan. She belongs to a ‘car pool’ and has to be ready by 4:30 or else the crew will come upstairs. These are loud friends of Megan who hate the Boss From Hell. They know everything about him because Megan tells them.
But Peggy, who thinks the work is important can be abused. She can be trapped. She is a victim.
When you work for a Boss From Hell, forget about work. Work is not important. The salary is important. Doing as little as possible is important. And Getting out of the office as early as possible is important.

Correct me if I am wrong about having bad bosses.A bad boss is really like working in hell.For the subordinates, they will ignore the boss and the most important thing is the salary.They just stay in the company to have a salary.It seems that they don't have the choice to lose their job.
If ever I have this kind of boss, I will definitely file my resignation. I am not into such working environment. The work productivity will be greatly affected. I cannot tolerate such a boss. I will try my best to do my job responsibilities and plan to move out from the company.
