We all know what the word a ‘Christian’ stands for.
A christian is a called out person with the lifestyle of christ Jesus.
So by implication any one who has believed in Jesus and portrays the characters of Jesus is suitable to be called a christian.
But what is obtainable today is in total discordance with the above explanation.
It is sadenning to note that many Christians all over the world today are only concerned about believing in Christ and forgetting about the works.
Christianity is a lifestyle which must be evident in CHARACTER. This is where there is a lakuna.
How can you say you are a christian and people can’t trust you with their money?
How can you say you are a christian and you still shortchange people?
How can yout profess Christianity and you still hold grievances against someone who hurt you 5 years ago?
How can you say you are a christian and you still mall-treat you house helper?
There is more to Christianity than just being a substitute religion to other people.
I write from a dispassionate point of view. The more the Christians we have, the more the irregularities and wrong happenings in the society. Why is it so? Because the core values have been neglected.
There is a clarion call to all Christians today. We seem to have missed it as regards being christ like.
Christ will always be moved with compassion towards those that are needy.
Christ forgave even those that killed Him. He offered Himself for the world to be free.
We aught to prefer one another, we aught to show love to one another. So much is required from Christians in the world today. We are meant to be proponents of peace just like the Holy book says, follow peace with all men.
As leaders, we are meant to lead by example. Servant leadership is what Jesus christ portrayed we are called to serve as leaders and not to Lord it over others. There will be a day for accountability especially for those in position of authority. Let your light so shine that men may see and glorify the father in heaven. The world is counting on us. The moment one is baptised they come a Christian. Whether they follow what is taught is left to their conscience. We are no judges.
I agree that it is not only religion, its life style also, but also true that we should not judge people as we do not know the full story about their life, maybe they are good in other parts of their life, maybe they are lost for some time, maybe they need our help ,maybe they are better human but did some mistakes
At the moment of baptism we become Children of God with a part to play in acquiring his kingdom. But to enter into in his we have duties we must uphold. We were created by the Almighty to know him, love him, to serve him in this world and the next. He wants us to walk humbly with him.
