Seniors’ way towards good health

 

As one grows older changes take place in the body. Every organ gets deteriorated in the body and no amount of supplements are going to provide what they would have naturally  produced in their younger days

Seniors therefore should give less burden on their organis which can be done by  downsizing one’s lifestyle.

A senior can live a very healthy life without having to resort to drugs specially those that control blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

These drugs while taking care of the blood pressure and cholesterol  weaken the muscles. And when this happens the joints take over the load. As it is with age joints become weak and this additional load can make a senior immobile having to replace joints.

Replacing joints is not as easy as it sounds nor is there a gurantee that the surgery will be successful.

Should one come to this stage, it is better to walk on crutches than go for surgery as from reports there is the possibility of developing complications which might result from patients  staying in bed rest of their life.

Eating  what is required to avoid high cholesteroal and blood pressure levels is one of the most important approaches for seniors to avoid going to doctors. And ofcourse regular exercise which goes without saying. For seniors walking would be the best choice.

Keeping one’s mind occupied doing things that add to ones zest for living needs no emphasis.

Going to doctors should be the last resort as some doctors have vested interests while recommending remedies that more often than not lead to the condition worsening.

I am a senior and I write this with confidence as so many seniors around me are a victims of doctors wrong diagnosis or wrong treatment.  Seniors cannot afford to take these risks.

Living simple lives is the secret of a senior’s good health

    • After reading this article i got lots of knowledge and thank you for sharing such information.Health is wealth .If we are fit then everything in this world looks beautiful.Healthy life is very important and for staying healthy we need to have proper diet,we should to eat healthy food ,do regular exercises. Dont smoke.mostly people smoke and use different drugs which really damage them.

    • I love that you wrote this post about seniors. The congregation where I attend worship services has a group that often gets together to do things and stay active. They used to call themselves “The Old Bunch”. Now they call themselves “The Fun Bunch”. :)

        Seniors can do great if they look after themselves.

    • wow! this is an amazing article. I am extremely happy there is somebody who is taking and talking about seniors who are most often viewed as neglected creatures on the planet Earth.

      You have rightly said that keeping oneself busy and preoccupied is always a good way . This makes one busy throughout his day. He will be concentrating on various things. He can take up;
      walking
      joining in a club
      laughing club
      reading
      writing
      moving with friends and occasionally visiting them.
      playing with children
      doing yoga
      and maintaining a good and regular diet

      Just recently I read a post. A Turkish Guru is now living a comfortable life. He is aged 95.He looks as 45. The secret behind his health he says that he does Prayer to the Sun early in the morning. and do some difficult yoga postures. Is it not amazing? How can Praying the Sun will give good health?
      He says that by doing Yoga he will always have control over his body and the brain has got the power to regenerate the dead cells and active the destroyed muscles even. Totally unbelievable.

    • This is an eye opener for I am also a senior citizen. I have just turned 65 recently. Though I take a maintenance medicine for the stabilization of my blood pressure, I take early morning a brisk walking to keep myself healthy fit. I feel really good. I am not free from stress of supervising my teachers in school, in handling problems created by our school children and their parents as well.

      I have no vices whatsoever. I never drink. I never smoke. I am very selective of what I eat. I usually eat leafy vegetables, sparingly eating meat. My wife is a good cook. She knows what is good for me and she always prepares it. My wife and I are already in our senior age. We maintain a better relationship and go to Church together with our grandchildren. We do have time to date at the public plaza, eat outside, play our favorite songs, sing and dance. We do what we are doing when we are teenagers.

    • Yes, it is a good and informative article that how seniors make their health good in extra time especially in old age. People in my country are living longer than ever before. Many seniors live active and healthy lives. But there's no getting around one thing: as we age, our bodies and minds change.

      There are things you can do to stay healthy and active as you age.It is important to understand what to expect. Some changes may just be part of normal aging, while others may be a warning sign of a medical problem. It is important to know the difference, and to let your healthcare provider know if you have any concerns.

Health Canada is proactively conducting research and planning to better understand the needs of Canadian seniors and to ensure that programs and services respond to Canada's demographic aging.
