I recently wrote about one of my super discounted Nails Inc nail polish bottle called Optic Flame here. I really like the baby pink color of the nail polish. It makes me feel so girly! Lucky for me, at the time I first tried it out, I had a little bit more time on my hands to do something extra. And because I hardly have that kind of time these days, I decided to grab the opportunity to apply nail stickers on my polished nails.
As always, I try to keep all the things I need within arm’s reach before starting with my nails. So here are all the things I used for this manicure session:
I think I wrote about an eBay auction win where I had about 50 sheets of nail stickers. So this sticker sheet is one of those. I chose this as I thought it would resemble an Audrey Hepburn-ish kind of vibe if I used the baby pink nail polish against a black nail sticker.
To get started with the look, I applied one coat of clear base coat and let it dry for a few minutes. After about two minutes, I applied the first coat of the baby pink Nails Inc Optic Glow polish. This time, I waited a bit more, maybe 3-5 minutes before applying the second coat. That was not an issue as I can easily fiddle on my online earning sites while doing that!
After drying the first coat, I applied a second coat of the pink polish to take care of the color gaps. As I posted here, I found it a bit difficult to even out the color as the polish seemed a bit thick already and the color not too pigmented.
After applying the polish, I have to make sure to keep the nail polish dry. The reason is that I don’t want to smudge the nail polish while applying the sticker. I don’t want to redo everything! So, this time, around, I waited for about 10 minutes to make sure the nail polish is close to completely dry.
Once the second coat of the pink polish is dry, that’s when I started to apply the nail stickers. I decided to be really playful with it and chose random nail stickers to apply for each nail! I hardly have time to enjoy these simple things anyway. So I made the most of it!
After applying each nail sticker on my nails, I applied one layer of Sally Hansen Insta Dri topcoat to finish the look!
The result? I adored my nails! I think I did a really great job with the nail stickers if I can say so myself. The baby pink polish worked really great against the black and white nail stickers. Ok, maybe not so much with the white ones since I hardly see it not unless I really take a close look. But since most of the stickers were predominantly black, it worked great!

t’s my first OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Lacquer, and it’s as if my technician tossed out the rules of a manicure with yesterday’s cotton balls. There’s no soaking my fingers in water‘it’s her opinion we can’t have my nails expand in water, then contract and crack the polish.
And there’s no sitting around afterwards waiting for it to dry: The five coats, including a base and topcoat, are cured in a hand-size UV lamp in just a couple of minutes per layer. The $50 manicure will last at least two weeks.
It offers a layer of protection as if I’d been given artificial nails, yet unlike fake nails, this stuff is just painted on like a polish with no filing,
bonding or sculpting. But the oddest thing about it is that everyone around me is talking about nothing but polish: the coolest colours and just how long their manicure lasted (for one woman, a month and still looking perfect’save a half-moon of natural nail that’s since grown at her cuticles).
Colourful, beautifully shaped nails have become a mainstream beauty obsession. No Canadian numbers are available, but according to U.S. market research, department store nail polish sales jumped 59 percent in the first 10 months of 2011, and the industry south of the border is worth more than $6 billion.
For many, polish is an ‘affordable luxury,’ says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, artistic director of Los Angeles’based OPI Products. Leeanne Colley of Tips Nail Bar & Spa in Toronto, where I had my nails done, surmises that ‘with the rise of smartphones, our hands are more visible. So having a coat of nail polish on is now a must.’
