There is Joy in Reaching Out

Blessed are those who get joy when reaching out.

Reaching out does not mean that one should dole out huge sums of money. There are many other ways. Ways that we come across in our day to day dealings.

1. Spend time with the less fortunate

2. Lend a helping hand for those who need it. Even shopping for someone who needs that kind of help could come under the category of reaching out

3. Offering to puppy sit or baby sit without expecting anything in return

4. Visiting the sick not just to spend time with them but also to offer any help that they may need. Even getting their medicines over the counter could be of great help to them.

5. If money can be spared organising a party for the less fortunate could be a great way to reach out

6. Sponsoring a child’s education

7. Having a thought for seniors

These are a few suggestions. Once one gets the taste of reaching out it will be imbibed in one’s system. As long as one does not expect anything in return the joy of reaching out will have a place of its own

It is unfortunate however there are many who do charity so that they get tax exemptions. This is not called reaching out. They will just shell out and not even involve themselves in activities that could be defined as reaching out.

Reaching out should have no motives. Keeping a low profile and just doing what defines  reaching out is the way to go.

There are so many around us who belong to the deprived lot. Lending them a hand is one’s duty and if in so doing  one gets joy that person is truly blessed.

One needs to look out for those who just ask for donations but do not spend that money received for causes. Rather than give money in charity to NGOs it is better that money is spent for those in need, directly.

    • Reaching out is something that anyone would do if they wanted to. It's just that there ar3 people who think that money is everything but it's not. I particularly disagree with the people who always think that needy people just need money to survive, but the truth is that all that need sometimes is just to have someone to hug them or hold their hand, and that's it. Others usually just want that company to feel like they belong, but we sometimes are so full of ourselves that we don't notice this little things. Time is very important just taking the time to be with someone and do something with them is better than sending dozens of gifts or loads of money, all that will someday get finished, but the friendship that is born between two people in a few minutes can last a lifetime and that's all that counts.

    • Beautifully written. I agree 100% with everything you have said here. If a person does a good deed with expectation of return he is not doing a good deed but business and there are so many ways to be kind and bring a difference in lives of other people.
