Skin problems in adolescence

Adolescence is where children are beginning to experience puberty period.

The puberty development in girls grow rapidly in 2 years, where the body take changes and developed from from a child to a mature physical body.

Puberty in boys starts 2 years later than girls. Some boys may grow in height, double the rate that he was growing before.

His genital parts started to develop rapidly too.

Pubic hair beings to grow for both boys and girls when they are at adolescence age.

As our teenagers grow , skin problems started to develop which is the natural cause of nature in humans.

#Perspiration-Body odor

One of the biggest problem is the body odor that comes from heavy perspiration in the armpits.

The strong smelling, awful odor and yellowish color stained on the armpit of the clothes often occur for adolescent with higher metabolism.

Body odor is one of the main reason for unpopularity among schoolmates. Some schoolmates make fun of the person who had body odor while others stayed away from him because they cannot stand the awful odor.

Solution: Use a suitable deodorant on the armpit before leaving home. Wash the armpit daily with body foam.

#pimples-Acne

The texture of the adolescent skin becomes rough as they grow at puberty age. The hormones in the body and the pores enlargement on the skin surface are the main causes.

As the pores are clogged with sebum (oil) and dead skin cells, small bumps will enveloped, causing red bumps with white heads that feels painful when touched.

This is called pimples.

The skin cells that line the pores will naturally die and peel off at different period. Hence, new skin is replaced.

There is no scientific prove that improper diet such as chocolate and fried food that caused pimples.

However, we do know that squeezing and poking pimples with sharp objects(needles)  would spread the infections from the burst pimples to other areas.

Hence, it is wise not to squeeze them and cause bad scarring and deep impact of the skin.

#Black heads

When the plug of cells and sebum are mixed with air, it oxidizes and turns the pore black. This is called Black Heads.

#Blemish

• Skin discoloration or dark spots due to acne
• pigmentation spots – brown dots on the face especially on the cheeks, nose and under the eye lids.
• Treat pimples and black heads before the blemish started to form.
• Avoid sun exposure during the day- especially at 12pm to 3pm in the afternoon when the sun is hot.
• Apply sunscreen or facial lotion/cream that has SPF15 to protect skin against the hot sun.
• Apply aloe vera lotion to the infection area 3x a day. Aloe vera is known to remove blemish and acne with high vitamin E

Solutions

• seek help from dermatologist or skin specialist for improving the pimples problems
• Daily exercise to keep body fit and healthy
• drink 8 glasses of water daily
• Wash face with mild soap or facial foam according to your face type ( oily or dry)
• Apply acne creams or lotions to reduce the bacterial infections.
• Sleep adequately
• Don’t worry or stress over problems.
• Avoid cosmetic on the infected skin until recovery.
