When Moderators Overstep

To quote Evelyn Beatrice Hall;  “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”

This should guide the mind of a Moderator when reading a piece s/he does not agree with.

Yeah, right.

Wikinut was infamous for having some of the most biased moderators known to Cyberspace.

These Mods made sure an item, a perfectly good item which matched all the ‘Rules’ was buried in the backpages and denies a ‘Star’ because they disagreed with the post or disliked the writer.

As you all know, Wikinut no longer pays and is a sort of sewer where bad writing goes to decompose.

As bad as Wikinut was and is, it doesn’t come near the new site called ‘Blogbourne’ .

Contributors can witness their writing brutalised, altered and hold a very pale resemblance to what they actually attempted to publish.

A new title will often be slapped on and the view point of the writer ‘tweaked’ so that matches that of the so-called moderator.

The only safety net that prevents garbage being published under your name is the perverted view of an ‘image’ . As they fuss over the ‘image’ you need to decorate your prose, this will hold up publication.

Those who mistakenly joined Blogbourne and used an image the deities at  that site find unacceptable, were granted a view of the butchering of their work by these so called ‘mods’.

Seeing how their work was perverted, they were able to delete their article as the ‘image’ stupidity prevented publication.

As an aside, many people do not understand copyright when it comes to using an image.    This is wonderful when an item you submit to a questionable site is held up because of an ‘image problem’.

This gives you a chance to see what has been done to your item and remove it without difficulty.

A moderator should read your work, maybe notify you if there are issues with spelling, grammar, rule infringement and let YOU change YOUR work.

When a moderator oversteps and rewrites your piece in their style, they have breached their role.  They have undertaken to use your work for their own ends.

If one joins a respected, well paying, literary site, and part of the agreement is to allow editing, that is one separate situation.

If one joins a new maybe legit/maybe not publishing site that popped up like a weed, the idea that your work can be brutalised is enough to have you losing your lunch.
