Cookie Review Series: M&S Pistachio and Almond Cookies

Snacking is a must for me. I can’t imagine living in a house without anything that I can easily munch on as the day goes by. Simply put, I usually eat 5 times in a day – with 2 of those being snacks.

M&S Pistachio and Almond Cookies

I don’t mind munching on fruit or a serving of yogurt to satisfy my hunger. I think I have a fairly healthy approach when it comes to my food choice, but let’s admit it, it is hard to deprive ourselves with the tasty and yummy snack items like cookies, right? I mean, even those who encourage eating healthy or models who watch over their calorie intake have “cheat days” when they can eat ANYTHING they want to eat. Usually, I am just happy to have a pack of Tesco’s Chocolate Chip Cookies since it tastes good and inexpensive, but there are times I want to spend a little bit more to indulge and buy M&S cookies – especially when they are on the “2 for €5” promo!

One of the things I love about M&S is that they have cookie promotions every so often. Apart from that, the flavors are usually not the typical flavors in the market – just like this Pistachio and Almond cookies from M&S that I am going to review.

I love nut-based cookies because it is usually not that sweet. Apart from that, I also love munching on nuts even on its own as a snack so putting it in a cookie is no issues with me. In particular, pistachios are probably one of my favorite nuts since I usually buy a bag of whole pistachios from Amazon for our home.

I bought a couple of M&S cookies on sale but just need to open this packet first. These cookies from M&S are not sickeningly sweet. In fact, I find it hard to stop eating once I get a piece! Each cookie has generous portions of nuts and you can see chunky bits of it throughout the cookie, too.

The cookies are not the chewy type but crunchy. I don’t really mind since I usually have the “chewy preference” on oatmeal cookies only. But for other cookie variants, I am OK if it’s not chewy.

The packaging is a nice vibrant color of green. It is hard to miss when passing by the M&S cookie and biscuit shelf. I think choosing this vivid green color suits the flavor combination perfectly as pistachio nuts are green anyway.

Apart from the really colorful packaging, each cookie is placed in a plastic container to avoid breaking. I think the little bit extra paid for M&S cookies is to pay for this packaging anyway. You get what you paid for, as they say.

Overall, I am really happy with this purchase from M&S. I still have a couple of bags of cookies left for me to try and will definitely share and write a review about it once I have done so!

      • Yeah they are! And it is so hard to stop munching on these after opening a packet. If not for the calories or the sugar, I'd more likely finish a bag in an hour or so, LOL!

    • Used to think that only graham crackers could be used as the crust for cheesecake. Then I realized that you could grind up any cookie and use it for crust. This cookie would make a great crust for a cheesecake.

      • That's a great tip - thanks for sharing! Haven't tried using cookies apart from gingerbread to use as cheesecake crust. But now that you mention it, I think it is worth a try. :) I agree with you it seems like a nice idea and would make the cheesecake a lot tastier, too.

    • One would never think that cookies with the same ingredients would taste different with different brands. What do you feel that has made this brand taste different and better?

      • Oh, this is a different type of cookie. The one I buy for cheaper price is the typical chocolate chip cookie and this one is pistachio and almond. I mean, Tesco's have decent tasting products but they don't offer a "budget range" for these types of cookies probably because the ingredients costs more so they can't offer it for "less".

    • Ooohh goodness those cookies look so good i also love snacking most of the time i always find myself snacking instead of cooking food and eating like am supposed to. I always knew of pistachio ice cream i have never tasted cookies, but am sure they are tasty

      • Oh yeah, pistachio ice cream is superb! Although I am a bit biased about gelato. But yeah, these are really nice to munch on and gosh, so difficult not to eat a lot of it! I try to avoid it when looking for snacks in the afternoon so I just make myself a peanut butter toast (boring).
