How to make rose water

Roses are plucked around two to three hours after sunrise so that the dew on them is totally evaporated. Petals of red roses with great fragrance have to be selected.

Only petals are used. They are placed in a vessel and covered with just enough distilled water.Too much water will dilute the rose water and will not be effective.  The vessel is closed with a lid and brought to steam boil but not to full boil. The flame is kept on simmer. In this process the colour and oil of the roses will slowly leave the petals and get dissolved in the water. The petals will lose their colour and the water will turn red.

Rose water is ready for use after it is cooled.

Rose water  could be kept in the fridge for it to  last longer.
