Teachers Day varies from different countries all over the world.
In Malaysia, Teachers Day is celebrated on May , 16 yearly at
school where students offer gifts to individual teachers as a
token of appreciation.
In Singapore, Teachers Day is celebrated on the first Friday of
the month September annually which falls on September 6 this
year, 2016.
However, World Teachers Day is celebrated October 5 yearly ,
worldwide.
Regardless of different dates, favorite teachers are warmly
received by their students with handmade gifts, store bought
gifts, Teachers Day cards with heartfelt words and not forgetting
flowers.
Although most school teachers are female with small
percentage of male teachers, teachers are the people whom we
appreciate for upbringing us with good moral education,
teaching us how to read, write and compose writings that had
aided us to excel well in our further studies and career.
In this article, I would be recommending some homemade gift
ideas which are inexpensive and needed your little ones
creativity to make beautiful gifts for their favorite teachers on
this special day.
Although some students would give teachers expensive gifts
which is better than your child, remember that it is the thoughts
that counts, not the pricetag of the gift.
You can help your child to make a stalk or a few paper flowers
with old gift wrappers, solid color papers or florescent bright
color papers. All you need are a few toothpicks, a bottle of
white glue and scissors plus patience.
You can buy a blank white mug from the store, use permanent
marker pens to draw pictures or write Teachers Day poem or
quote on the mug to show your feelings towards your teacher.
In this way, your teacher will always remember you because
this mug the one and only one that is special. Nobody can copy
this mug!
One of the best way to show your appreciation and gratitude
towards your favorite teacher is to make your own Teachers
Day card. Recycle trash material such as box cartons, old
wrapping paper, ribbons, buttons and art crafts material into a
unique card. I even used Chinese New Year Ang Pow Red
packet to cut out an apple for the main theme of Teachers Day
card. Every trash or old items are useful in handmade crafts.
My son gave this handmade card to his class teacher and she
was smiling ear to ear.
You can request your child to help you out with sieving the
flour, cracking and beating the eggs, decorating the cookies or
icing the cake. Allow him to participate, not just you left alone to
make the cookies or cake in the kitchen. Get him to participate ,
then he will feel the joy and proud that the cookies or cake that
he gave his teacher was part of his job too. You may also opt
for store bought cookies or cake if you are lazy to bake it. Get
him to choose and decide.
You can use tin cans, toilet paper roll, Pringles container or
plastic bottle and turn it into a pencil holder for Teachers Day
gift. You can see from this Jar pencil holder which I had made
with old jeans , excess fabric, ribbon and white glue to paste
them around the jar. You can use mayo jar or supplement pill
jar, depending on the size you desire.
