The 5 Flowers Of My Name

I love a fun challenge and so I have created one that was inspired by the last writing challenge of finding the colors in your name. This one is to choose what flowers would represent each letter of your name. With the vast quantities of flora and fauna in the world, I am anxious to see what others will choose for their name. I am hoping to find some unique and beautiful new flowers to represent the letters of my name. Let’s dig in and begin.

For the first letter of my name, I will pick the Snowflake plant because of its beautiful white flowers that droop like a bleeding heart. I think this plant would look nice in any garden as a contrast to some really pretty purple, dark red, or dark pink color flowers. Besides, who wouldn’t like to think of the cooling of a snowflake in the middle of a hot summer?

On to the second letter which is “h” and for this, Hyacinth will be my flower of choice. I love the look of this spring flower with its tall stalks and the bundle of colorful flowers curling together at the top. All the blue, pink, purple, yellow, white, and even a midnight color would be stunning planted in groups with all the different colors complimenting each other.

Edelweiss is my selection for the third letter. I find this flower to be unique in the shape of the white petals with the light yellow at the center. It is said that this flower possesses the power to ward off evil and some have even worn it as a symbol of a “medal of honor.” I find it fun to say and to see how many people know what it is.

Roses shall be planted in the center of the garden as the main attraction. I hold this flower very close to my heart in honor of my parents who had numerous roses planted around the house. My father took care of them with such loving care just as he did with his children.

For the second “r” in my name, I pick the Rhododendron bush for its delicate flowers that come in shades of pink, purple, and white. When these bushes bloom, the flowers daintily hang from the branches and profess their beauty. These are persnickety plants which like to be planted facing north and like the soil just right in order to grow and thrive. Maybe this is another reason why I like them so well.

So, I have reached the end of my name and the last flower is the Yucca. I love the look of this plant with the sharply pointed leaves in a ball shape as the base and growing out of the middle, tall stalks reach towards the sky with their white flowers perching on top. This flower reminds me of my experience when I drove through the Mojave Desert when I was younger. The root of this plant can be eaten and the texture is much like potatoes. However, I am not a fan of them, but many people do like them.

As I finish the flowers in of my name, I realize there is a pattern. I have chosen a white theme in my garden with a few splashes of color. I didn’t know that I would do this, but I think it would make a nice color palette for my yard. What flowers make up your name? Would you actually plant them in your garden if you have one? Feel free to share your ideas and choices here.

    • I love the flowers you chose, and the fact that you created a subconscious pattern in the colour scheme. I've shared on several networks :)

      • Thank you, @ruby3881. I appreciate your shares. I did not intend to pick mostly white flowers but I loved the look of them and the names. I tried to find flowers that I was not familiar with besides the rose which is very dear to my heart.

    • Goodness now this is a very unique way of knowing what one's name stands for. I would have never used flower names to try out my name. Can i even do my name? I wonder let me see if I can do a letter or something. To be honest I can't even think of a flower with the latter A. Maybe you could do me the honors of finding those flower names for me. But this is very interesting.

    • Thanks for you giving the readers a new approach of name but my name is love and I explain my name thus: L stands for land of sorrows, O stands for occasion of teas, V stands for valley of death and E stands for end of life.

Do you agree with my name interpretation I think it is a beautiful explanation of LOVE alphabets.

    • So it's Shery? Nice name, I found it if I'm correct. I love this blog of yours. Can I do mine too in a different way but I will come up with the same method?
