Saving money has become an important part of everyday life for most people. There are many options out there for saving money on everyday purchases from clothing, health and beauty, and groceries. Smart phone users can head to the App Store or the Google Play app and find a multitude of money saving or cash back apps. With so many out there, how do you choose which ones are the best for you? To help you out, I have compiled five of my favorite money saving apps.
Ibotta is an app that you can use to save money on groceries and it is simple to use. It offers categories other than groceries such as health and beauty, clothing, and even dining. Upon opening the app, you choose a category and then choose a store that you are going to be shopping. Go through the options for savings and unlock the offers.
Once you have done your shopping and bought the items you have unlocked, you will scan the bar codes to determine that you have purchased the correct items and then upload your receipt to be approved. Approval does not take that long and Ibotta will send you an email telling you that the savings have been added to your account. The threshold for cashing out your account is $20 and once you have reached this amount, you can request your money to be sent to your PayPal or your Venmo account. You can also choose from several gift cards.
Checkout 51 offers savings on groceries, personal care items, and items for your home such as cleaners, paper products, and air fresheners. Some of the products offered need to be purchased from a specific store, but there are ones that can be purchased from any store. The offers are updated every Thursday.
Choose your offer by clicking on the star next to the item and then upload your receipt. Checkout 51 even has an offer to enter a contest to win $500 with any $60 grocery receipt. After uploading your receipt, Checkout 51 will verify your purchases and then transfer the amount you saved into your account. Their cash out threshold is $20 and when you reach that amount, you can request your money which will be paid by check they send you in the mail.
Saving Star is strictly a grocery app and their offers often coincide with coupons for the same item and amount. Once you have an account with Saving Star, you need to add your favorite stores to shop at and activate the items that you want to save money on.
Every Tuesday, there is a new health offer and offers are updated on the first of every month. Unlike the previous apps, Saving Star has a low cash out threshold of $5 and will transfer the money to your PayPal account once you accumulate that amount.
Find & Save is a unique app that allows you to save on many different products at various stores. There is a list of stores that are offering savings and the savings are generally on the total of your purchase. Once you have spent the specified amount in order to receive your savings at the particular store, you will need to upload the receipt to be verified.
The offers are available for a specific time period and when that is over then the receipts will be approved. The money that you saved will be held in your account until you have reached the $25 threshold. After accumulating that amount, the money will be automatically transferred to your PayPal account.
The Walmart Savings Catcher is strictly for Walmart, but it can save you money on your purchases. This app searches through all the local store ads to find a lower price on the items that you have bought at Walmart. After making purchases, go into the app and scan the QR code at the bottom or your receipt.
The app automatically starts searching for lower prices. This process can take up to a day or so and you will be emailed if it has found lower prices or not. If there were lower prices, you will get back the difference between the price you paid and the lower price. This money will be kept in an account which you can request as a Walmart gift card or use it online at the store’s website. There is also an option to redeem to a Bluebird account from American Express which can be used anywhere that American Express is accepted.
These are just a few of the apps available to save money on groceries and other everyday items that you buy, but these are the ones that I have had the best results from. I would love to hear of your favorite money saving apps, so please share them here.

These are good sites, but I still just like to go the stores for it is a good way to get out of the house but coupons are good.
@morgoodie Lucky you people. We do not have any such concepts here in India
@morgoodie I will have to look into some of these apps to see how many are useful in Canada. I did try Checkout 51 briefly but found the app glitchy at the time. Of course, this was a couple of years ago; I'm sure the app has been updated quite a bit since then.
I hope these apps are available in my country. It seems the apps are only suitable internationally.I am not closing my door to check it out. There might be the opportunity to be handy for saving some money with apps aid.
These are good apps but i think they are apps that are used in America. It would actually be a nice app to use here in Portugal. I am not sure if it is available in my country but i am sure going to try it out. Some apps seem to be nice money savers.
Like any other app it is probably hard to get money to cashout but it doesn't hurt to try either.
