5 Father’s Day Activities with Dad

June is my favorite month of the year.

Father’s Day which is widely celebrated all 

around the world is held on 19^th June yearly.

Since Father’s Day is around the corner, how 

do you celebrate with your dad?

Here are 5 Father’s Day activities that my dad 

and I had been having fun for the past decades.

These activities are suitable for father and son,

 father and daughter, regardless of age.

You can still have fun with your dad even

 though you are a parent too.

#1 -Fishing

My dad loved fishing when we were young. 

He used to take us to the seaside, sat on the

 pathway with an old newspaper placed below

 our bottoms.

He had bought 3 fishing poles, baits and 

accessories, brought a bucket and bought a

 small bag of live earth worms from the pet shop.

We had never caught any fish during our

 fishing spree but we did had a good heart to

 heart talk because that is the time when dad 

was opened up to us. 

#2- Cycling

Spending a memorable day, cruising around 

the park and playground with our bicycles was

 fun and hilarious. 

We had a bet who cycled to the designated 

destination will be the winner. 

The loser, the last person to reach there had to 

give everyone an ice-cream treat. 

Dad was the best entertainer and the

 ice-cream was tasty.

#3- Teh Tarik – Milk Tea

Dad loved to hang out at the coffee shop in

 the morning, for a cup of Teh tarik with roti 

prata ( indian pancakes).

He doesn’t feel comfortable to dine at 

restaurants, Western or local restaurants 

because he felt the pressure dining there.

Hence, on Father’s Day, I would suggest dad 

to have a tea drink ( in Chinese we fondly 

called it “Lim Teh”) at the nearby coffee

 shop, had a grand time of chit-chat over the 

past and presence, memorable sweet memories 

about his childhood days

. Do you know that old dad is fond of talking about his past?

#4- A pot luck

Since dad doesn’t like to dine in restaurants,

 we suggested to have a pot luck lunch or 

dinner at home.

He was smiling from ear to ear because he

 wanted to have everyone in the family gather 

together in his home on Father’s Day.

We made it happened for his Father’s Day 

wish.

I had cooked his favorite Chicken Hot Pot, 

black sauce chicken stew with assorted

 vegetables. 

Curry fish, dad loved curry fish head which my 

brother had bought from the Chinese food 

court. 

Dad wanted to show his culinary skill.

Hence, he cooked a plate of Stir Fried Noodles 

with Prawns which we had been eating on 

every Father’s Day. 

Family bonding with dining together is the 

perfect idea for father and children to 

enhance relationship.

 My dad is a wise old man.

#5- Watching Movies

Dad also loves to watch comedy movies but 

he doesn’t want to watch in the cinemas.

He couldn’t stand the air-cond and pitch 

black background with the loud speaker 

surrounding.

I had downloaded a few of his favorite old 

time comedy movies in a pen drive.

Attached to the LED TV USB port, played the 

movies while he sat on the sofa enjoying

 himself.

He wanted us to join him because 

he doesn’t want to be alone.

So, we made some light pita bread snacks, 

popcorn and hot beverages.

Sat together to enjoy a good laugh.

Do you noticed that old folks are lonely?

On this coming Father’s Day, let us spend

 precious time with our dads.
