4 Ways to Treat Muscles Soreness

Does your body feel tired with backaches all over the body after a work out in the gym?

Feeling muscle soreness in your limbs after an evening of badminton match ?

Honestly, I have not exercise for the last 4 years after my son had started to attend nursery school.

In the past, I used to have a brisk walk daily in the park on every evening.

On weekends, I had appointment with a group of friends for a friendly badminton match at the local community centre.

It was a great work out to release stress but not anymore.

Last week, after a day of badminton match with my sister-in-law, exercise is the last thing I had in mind after experiencing muscle soreness.

The pain was all over my body, especially both arms and a backache that I could hardly get up from bed in the next morning.

According to my sister-in-law who exercises 3 days a week, told me that muscle soreness is one of the symptoms for tight muscles which is not flexible  and had stiffen over the time.

Occasional pain is fine but not joint pain on the knees or elbows which should be treated immediately it is it a long term pain.

Everyone has encountered muscle soreness including athletes who practice daily.

When you play outdoor games ( badminton, tennis, swimming ), you may feel a sudden soreness at your limbs which you had exerted much strength.

Most probably parts are both arms, shoulder, legs and backaches on the next day.

This soreness feeling is due to the fact that your body had tore down the muscle tissues ( microscoptic tears).

However, the good news is, after a few days, your muscles will rebuild itself with replenish of nutritious food and fluid.

It rebuilds with new muscle tissues which are bigger and stronger than before.

That is how the broken down old tight and stiffen muscle tissues happened after a good work out.

In addition with the new tissues, your muscles do not feel much soreness even with another trip of exercise.

4 Tips how to treat muscle soreness

#1 : Massage

A 10 minutes  of massage on the shoulders, arms and legs helps to relief the aching muscles pain.

In addition, it helps to speed up the blood flow to delivery nutrients to the damaged muscle tears.

Hence, it will become elastic and treat the soreness.

#2: Stretching

Always perform a light stretching as a warm up exercise before a work out.

It helps to relax and loosen tight muscles from tearing.

This stretching exercise is also beneficial to people who are living sedentary lifestyle at home.

#3: Warm Bath

Take a warm bath, soak your body into the bathtub for an hour to apply the heat directly onto the soreness.

It also helps to increase the blood flow naturally which is similar to the massage trick.

#4: Fish Oil

If the muscle soreness still does not disappear after the next day, try consuming Cod Liver Oil or Fish Oil supplement to reduce the soreness.

Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin or ibuprofen which will slow down your damaged muscle tears from healing.

It is wise to talk to the pharmacist or the doctor to check which medical application rubs or medication is suitable for you.

Many people prefer to use peel and stick heating plaster which are coated with herbs to stay in place for 12-24 hours in order to apply the heat directly to the soreness.

It might work for mild pain but I would rather choose a massage treatment, pleasurable and relaxing!!
