3D Christmas Tree Craft for Kids

Christmas is just around the corner.

One month from today, it is a joyous celebration for people all over the world, regardless of race or religion.

Although most Catholics and Christians do attend church mass for prayers, there are non Christians who celebrate Christmas by singing carols from door to door and participating handmade crafts for sale.

When I was young, I used to whine at my dad to buy for me Christmas crafts sold at the church where the money collected are donated to the church expenses.

One of the craft I remembered vividly was the Christmas Tree made from PVC material.

It was glisterring with sequins, figs from the nature, fake leaves and it was mini, perfect for desk decoration.

Nowadays, you can buy fake Christmas Tree with wide range of sizes and height that you prefer.

However, nothing beats a handmade Christmas Tree that I would encourage my kids to recycle trash items into decorative handmade crafts for any festive season.

Last Christmas, both my son and I had made a 3D Christmas Tree stand with cardboard and old gift wrapper.

You don’t have to spend any money on the materials used for this Christmas craft.

All you need are:

-card board or empty box  ( Used Mushroom Cream Soup Box pack)

-Old gift wrapper (used last Christmas gift wrapper)

-a bottle of White glue ( sticks better than normal glue)

-pencil and ruler for drawing

-a pair of scissors ( for cutting the Christmas Tree shape)

Step by Step Instructions:

  • Fold a rectangular cardbox into half.
  • Draw out the shape of a Christmas tree depending on the size that you wanted.
  • Draw half of the tree will do, as picture shown.
  • Then, use the scissors to cut out the shape.
  • Flip open the Christmas tree card, you can see a complete tree without the stump.
  • Repeat the same steps to make another tree card. Now you will have 2 trees.
  • Place the old gift wrapper (with the design) facing upwards.
  • Put the Christmas tree card on top.
  • Use a pencil to draw out 4 Christmas tree shape. Cut them out.
  • Apply generous of white glue on both sides of the Christmas tree card.
  • Select 2 Christmas tree shape of the gift wrapper to paste one on the front and the other on the back of the card.
  • Repeat the same step for the 2ndChristmas tree card.
  • Now, to make the Christmas tree card to stand on its own to form a 3D card, you need to make a slit.
  • Place both tree cards on the table.
  • Find the middle point of the card.
  • Draw a straight line from the middle point to the BOTTOM of the card.
  • Cut the straight line ( as picture shown).
  • For the 2ndtree card, draw a straight line from the middle point to the TOP of the card.
  • Cut the straight line too.
  • Now slip the 2 cards in a cross pattern ( as picture shown )
  • As you can see, your Christmas Tree card is standing on its own on a flat surface.
  • Draw out a few stars on a piece of left over yellow color paper.
  • Cut them out.
  • Paste the stars randomly all over the card.

Your Christmas Tree card is ready for table top decoration!

You can even turn it into a ceiling or door decoration by making a hole of the tip of the card, loop in a string or yard, tie a knot.

Then hang it on the door or ceiling .

    • We've got flat Christmas trees, felt Christmas trees, 3D Christmas trees, pretty Christmas trees and sparkly Christmas trees - in fact all sorts of Christmas tree crafts for kids! We hope you'll find something here for kids of all ages, and the finished results will brighten up your house this Christmas...

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree! The Christmas tree is an important part of the Christmas tradition in many Christian families. Many of our Christmas memories comes down to remembering opening gifts around the Christmas tree or decorating the Christmas tree with your siblings and your parents. The crafts on this page are representations of Xmas trees, such as paper-folded, felt, beaded, or even Christmas trees made from recycled magazines

A cool way to decorate these trees is with colored cellophane tape. This comes in bright solid colors and in a variety of attractive Christmas designs. Apply strips of tape across the cutout trees, as shown in Figure b.

Or decorate with sticker stars. These trees can be any size. The larger ones-6 to 8 inches high —make good mantelpiece decorations, while trees 3 inches high make perfect homemade decorations for your Christmas tree. There are many combinations of paper and tape with which to work.
