School opening has not yet happen but the school season already began. The program dubbed as Brigada Eskwela (School Brigade) started the school activity this year all over the Philippines.
The Department of Education or DepEd gather the teachers and non-teaching staff, government officials and entities, parents, students and concerned individuals participated in a clean and green program in the schools premises.
They must know, the first day is not intended for cleaning the school, classrooms and surroundings just like the way we were. The first day of school is the first day of learning. This is the golden rule of DepEd now with regards to opening of classes.
And on June 5, in the Philippines, 25 million students from public and private schools will enter their classroom. Twenty five million of students who will mob not only the school but streets, roads, malls and vehicles.
Still, there are many problems that DepEd need to fix. Problems like lack of classroom, lack of teachers, lack of schools, lack of materials, the error-ridden books and materials for their mother-tongue subjects, the preparation for senior high programs like school buildings and teachers, program for different tracks and many more.
Sure the DepEd they will hire more than 50,000 new teachers. Still the question lingers again where the salaries come from, what line of specialization of teachers be acquired and how about the other personnel.
It is expected more students in schools this year because of K to 12 program. It will need 12 years or more for students to graduate in elementary and high school. This will be the first time the K12 graduate will happen.
But above all, the importance of education in building the future of every Filipino. The education as the key to success. There will be 25 million of reason to give 25 million of dreams to each of these students.###
