What causes obesity

Obesity is the key reason for your overweight problem.

It is a major health problem that had hit teenagers, working adults, homemakers and middle age people who are living sedentary lifestyle.

It is the most common affluent in the society worldwide.

Apart from unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise , skipping breakfast, consuming processed food ( hotdogs, burgers, sausages, anything related to fast food ), tidbits ( high in sodium) and carbonated beverages ( canned fizzy/soda drinks) are worst offenders.

Here are 10 painless way to lose weight without going on diet or fasting the whole day.

Include wheat meals in your diet – taken by peachpurple

# 1- Carbohydrates

Consume lots of good carbohydrates such as :

  • wholemeal bread
  • brown rice
  • wheat pasta
  • potatoes ( baked or mashed not deep fried )
  • root vegetables ( carrots, squash, pumpkins, radish)
  • beans ( kidney beans, broad beans, chickpeas )
  • these carbohydrate rich ingredients provide you high energy throughout the day.
  • Low calories and no fats

#2 – Fresh fruits and vegetables

Eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and salads daily which provide you sufficient vitamins, minerals, fibre and nutrients to your body.

It is wise to consume at least 5 servings per day, a small portion at each time.

A portion means the size of your fist which is similar to a small rice bowl.

An apple with orange, a small bunch of grapes , 2 plums and 1 peach, at least 2 different fruits in a bowl.

You can also have a plate of salad mixture of veggies and fruits but less dressing.

A handful of cabbage with sticks of carrots are good enough for you to chew like a rabbit!

#3 – Lean meats

Always choose lean meats to cut down on the fats and extra calories.

If you had to choose chicken with skins, remove the skins and fats before cooking. Poultry skins are high in fats which will increase your weight under your skin instead.

#4- Skimmed Milk

Look for skimmed milk , low fat milk instead of regular fresh milk.

Choose low fat cheese and yogurt cups, original flavor would be a wise choice.

#5 – Creamy Sauces

Try to avoid grilled meat sauces, burger patty sauces , salad dressings and fresh cream.

Use low fat yogurt or fromage frais for your natural cream garnishing.

#6- Reduce Sugar

Look out for hidden sugar in your daily intake of food.

Sugar is usually hidden in biscuits, cookies, cakes, sweet desserts, candies, chocolates, carbonated beverages, salad dressings and processed food.

#7 – Breakfast

Never skip your morning breakfast daily. It is wrong concept that many people think that skipping breakfast help them to lose weight.

Instead, you will feel more hungry, consuming more food during lunch or dinner, lack of proper food digestion, causing your weight to increase .

Have light breakfast such as oatmeal with fruits, 2 slices of toast bread on the go.

#8- Right method of cooking

It is wise to think ahead before you start cooking.

Reduce deep frying food which absorbs excess oil into the food.

Try grill, steam, bake, stew or roast cooking method which uses less oil, a healthier choice to produce more nutritious food.

Roasting meats or chicken with a little butter would not absorb much fats compare to deep frying with oil.

#9 – Eat small portions

I never expected that eating small portions but 5 times a day would work out right.

Instead of eating 3 times a day , large mountain of food pile up on your plate, might as well eat small portions each time, 5 times a day.

Instead of a full plate, use a small rice bowl to fill up the food.

It helps you to refrain yourself from having a second bowl.

By eating 5 times a day, you are helping your digestive system to digest the food properly since the food consume is small and light.

#10   – Don’t nap

Remember, do not take a nap after you had your meal.

Many people feel lazy after a meal, taking a nap would increase your weight because your digestive system is shutting down when your brain signals it to cease functioning.

    • The most conventional way to lose weight is to eat a well-balanced diet and do some exercises.I also agree with you that we need to prepare the food and consider the proper way to cook it. Of course, we also need to hydrate ourselves while doing some exercises.

    • Good advice, especially about eating whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables. As far as the fats are concerned, some new research suggests that fat is less of an issue for weight gain than previously thought. And we actually need some healthy fats with our vegetables (e.g. salad dressing) in order to help us obtain the full benefits of the fat-soluble vitamins like vitamins A & D.

BTW, obesity is a major concern when people are poor and cannot afford enough healthy food. It has often been touted as a disease of affluence but in study after study, those individuals most likely to be overweight or obese were the elderly who live on fixed income and members of low-income families.

Many of these people depend on refined (white) carbohydrates for the bulk of their calories in the day because foods like white rice and pasta, potatoes, and white breads and instant breakfast cereals tend to be both inexpensive and frequently donated to food banks or soup kitchens. There are a lot of calories in these foods but few other nutrients besides carbs, in comparison with fresh vegetables and whole grain products.

    • Those are some very good tips that someone would use to cut weight. I totally agree this could be a good and easy way to loose Wight. I guess it's all about what we put in our mouths that counts. Am glad that personally I do try to eat the above foods that you have mentioned. I also never skip my meals, I always make sure that i have had my breakfast because that is what keeps me going throughout the way, I don't get to binge eating.
With all that done I also try to keep up with my exercises, that's very very important. When we are loosing weight we don't just want to burn the days off of our bodies, but we are also burning calories, and at th3 same time we also want to keep fit and have a well toned body right? This ar3 things I keep in mind all the time.
But the one thing am really greatful about is the fa t that i don't struggle with weight. Usually when I get stressed out the first thing that starts going down is my weight. I tend to loose weight quite fast when am stressed out so that saves me from having to reduce my eating at some point.Let me just say I loose weight naturally without working too hard. But again I ha e to be really careful when am relaxed because I gain weight just as fast.
