History of science is the study of the historical development of science and scientific knowledge including both the natural sciences and social sciences. Histography of science deals on both intellectual history and social history. Many scientists cintributed immensely to the histography of science. William Whehell first coined the word science in the 19th century Golinskit 2001 true theories replaced false beliefs. Previous scientists called themselves philosophers. Empirical investigation of the natural world was described by Thales and Aristotle. Hoskins and Ruggles noted that archeological evidences indicate the development of astronomical knowledge in preliterate societies. Homer noted that ancient Egypt made significant advances in astronomy, mathematics and medicine. Egypt was also a center of alchemy research for much of Mediterranean. The Edwin Smith papyrus is the earliest document that attempt to describe and analyse the brain. The earliest Greek philosophers are known as Pre-socrate. A Pre-socrate philosopher Thales was dubbed the father of science. Thales was the first to postulate the supernatural explanation of a natural phenomenon. Dock was the first to postulate that earth is spherical in shape. Duck also founded the pythogorean school. Duck was Thales student.
