Intellectual Disability replaces the term Mental Retardation or Mental Deficiency,

My sister had a frequent asthma attack when she was conceiving her baby. As explained by her doctor, an asthma attack during […]

    • Indeed before that is the term @Ruby. I didn’t know that it’s now called intellectual disability.

That is good, because those previous term is a somewhat demeaning.

It’s good also that you explained how come Carla was born with intellectual disability.

I am happy to know Carla had joined those that showcased her talents and abilities and we saw her on TV when she joined one. 🙂

      • I am also happy that our society now is more aware that these PWDs are not different from everyone else. They should be treated equally despite their disabilities.

I am also happy that the government is addressing this now by having SPED in almost all public schools in the country.

    • Hi, and really amazing points you wrote there, and sorry that most of my posts and comments have but, it is not everywhere called that way, and there is nothing wrong to be called in the old name mental retardation, why? some of these people have intelligent that is more than normal people who are not labeled that way

      • Good Morning ladies and gent.
the term intellectual and retardation are both in use since long time, non is replacing the other, both are correct and you can choose which is suitable to you.

    • The change in terminology is quite good because it is less hurting for the person affected or to the parents. It is good society had come to accept and understand their situations well. There are special schools for them to help them cope and have a social life.

      • Yes, so true. I am really happy that we have this SPED Program of the DepEd. It really is demeaning, as Dina mentioned, to use the old term. At least now, our society is aware of we should accept them despite their disabilities.

    • Hello Ruby? And finally I am able to catch up a blog from you. This day I brought my lap top to school to do inputting of scores to the school’s system, so here I am so impressed about your very nice and informative blog.My salute on this for you are presenting here many things like how MR was previously called and changed to wave the incapacity and reputation of the family if having a special child. Yes, you are right, that there are many institutions this time that cater the need of the special children and children with impaired physical properties especially the mental disability. They need care so they will know how to feel love and care.

      Take care and congrats.

      • Thanks Cely!

I do really applaud you for your dedication in your profession and at the same time squeezing time for this site. I hope that your internet connection is now faster than before.

I can really relate to the situation of our PWDs here in the Phils. Although there are already institutions for this, still we lack some financial support for them to be sustainable in their future.

    • @ trees and moons

in the Special Education Program of our Department of Education, if possible we should not use the word ‘mental retardation’ anymore but rather the term ‘intellectual disability’.

      • I understand you point and I find intellectual disability is kinds inappropriate as some with mental retardation are having high IQ, and they better than some with no disability, so why to insult the intellectual ability of the mentally retarded? that is why I just say its not an international name to call these people, and still lots of countries in the special education field call it mentally retarded. I respect your point but that is not international point, that what I mean by mentally retarded

My sister had a frequent asthma attack when she was conceiving her baby. As explained by her doctor, an asthma attack during pregnancy can cut back the oxygen to the fetus from her which may also include, among other risks, abnormally slow growth of the fetus (intrauterine growth retardation).

Do you know what is common with the above restaurants?

It’s fried chicken ! Their fried chicken is very delicious . But of course , there will be one who will reign supreme.

But before I reveal what is the b […]

    • sorry but i hate kfc theya re full of oil, sometimes the chicken is notwellcooked and smell like old and the service is horrible, for the price the price is too much to the food hat you eat with that low quality, I will never go kfc again, and when i complain they do not care, omg how bad they are

    • @trees

Oh is that so? Well here, maybe because there are a lot of competition, restaurants would really make their fried chickens delicious.

KFC fried chicken here is delicious. Although, since I have my favorite which is a local one from here, I rated it a little lower.

So what restaurant in your country, offers the most delicious fired chicken?

    • “nakakagutom naman!”

I can’t help but shout this in our language.

When Bon Chon opened, we tried it and I liked it because of its sweetness and I’m a sweettooth. But, if eaten often, its sweetness is a bit overwhelming.

I like KFC, not so much for their fried chicken, but for their mushroom soup hehe.

If I have enough money and I am with my family, we surely will go to Max’s.

But if I have limited money, I’d always take the Crispy Chicken Sandwich of McDo. i also love its apple pie.

Din, what’s DIY? Sorry haven’t been to this place yet.

Jollibee, a ‘playsafe’ kind of place. If you don’t know what to eat, go to this place.

      How about Army Navy?

      • @Ruby ,

Ate Rubs, yes I am sure those that have read this, will surely say that “nakakagutom”, (made me hungry?) I don’t know how to put it right in English though. lol

Really, you like Bon Chon’s fried chicken. I have this taste for chicken which should be a bit salty but not sweet, though if it is of sweet and sour taste, I would surely love it. You have a sweet tooth indeed, since you like it.

DIY Burgers , which literally means Do It Yourself Burgers , is a restaurant that serves very big burger and you can customize what to put in your burger by choosing what are those stuffs you want. For every filling , there is a corresponding amount. he he he

And just like you, if it is a family outing and have a big budget , we will certainly go to Max’s .

But if not McDo or Jollibee would be affordable yet so filling already. 🙂

    • I haven’t tried Bon Chon though it was opened months ago in mall here. I don’t like sweet chicken. Of those you mentioned, I (we) like Max’s best, though the other ones are cheaper. My next choice is Jollibee chicken. Thanks for the review, and yes, these companies should pay you for endorsing their chicken!

    • I like it so much.

      • @Mohammad Rafiq Akhtar ,

Which one of those do you like much? I have enumerated and described 6 different stores that serves it.

Do you like the breaded fried chicken or the as it is fried chicken?

In your place, what are those stores who serves delicious fried chickens?

So which one do you like going to, to eat fried chicken. How much do they cost? Do they come with rice and a coke too?

    • Is fried chicken one of your favorites too? For me, it is. It cannot be helped that when I go to the mall I would always choose fried chicken with rice budget meal.

That price of $5 is expensive compared to the fastfood outlet’s budget meals for 2 piece chicken, with rice , gravy and a drink.

Though for the fine dining restaurants, the are the same for their budget meal of chicken with side dish, a dessert and softdrinks.

This year I am in the phase of running out of ideas. I am not sure what are some of the things that can be done to get some ideas. I have videos to make but I have no idea which topic to choose from. I have […]

    • When I post, I don’t read others posts about it here. I would only get to know about others post about the same topic too, when they appear at the bottom of my submitted post.

But then, I have a different style of writing and have lots of other ideas to tell the readers.

When I ran out of ideas, I just comment. Then , when I am rested already I think of what to post here and jot it down on my phone. Then, I would expound on it when I already have the time and the right mood.

    • when i post i like to see what others answer to the post after i read the post, it gives me idea how to express and also communicate with others, i guess we never run of ideas, its only some times the ideas are not well enough to express them in a post or the idea is not big to make it a topic in here or the ideas it self is not of interest to us and sometimes you think its not of interst to other writers or viewers, but the thing as long as you are alive there are ltos of stories and ideas in the living room in the garden and in the bathrooms, so just try to find an idea here or there and expand it, that is what i do, no one is perfect sometimes your ideas will not be like by some and sometimes the ides that you my write only tow rite maybe not liked by you but lik3d by some others readers. sometimes i say something i don;t like jsut to talk to my family and i like it when they like it and we talk about then about it due to that they added information to it and added to it. I guess people never out of ideas to share or write about everywhere in the world

Mahesh wrote a new post, What Jealousy Can Do to your Life 7 years, 7 months ago

I think biggest problem with your life is the jealousy. And you can’t get much from the life if you remain jealous all the time. You can see that many people are spending their life working harder to achieve the […]

    • Jealousy can consume a person. When one is jealous of another person, it shows that the other person is better thus it makes the jealous person, feel depressed.

Because she is jealous, she could concoct lies to discredit the person she’s jealous of.

For lovers, jealousy can be fatal. There are cases that because of unfounded jealousy the other partner was killed by the jealous lover.

Though, for lovers a little jealousy is nice. It makes them closer once the jealousy is addressed. 🙂

    • Jealousy is a bad thing. people who tend to be jealous of others do not go far in life because they use up all their energy thinking of how good someone else’s life is. I doubt if I can envy someone, I will only aspire to be like that person. Jealousy pulls you back, live and let live. It shall be well with you at your own appointed time. All fingers are not equal.

    • Jealousy is definitely a negative state of mind. The anxiety will take place if there are still some chances for getting the things that others have got but you do not. Here, one will put forth one’s best efforts to achieve them. This is the best aspect. This can also be viewed as positive thinking.

The element of comparison always lies in jealousy. We know pretty well of not getting the things in spite of our best efforts. Still, we want them. We feel the jealousy of others possessing those things which are totally meaning. In this case, it definitely causes depression which ultimately leads to self-destruction.

    • Jealousy is like an instinct. This feeling is inherent in man. It is part of human existence and no one can hide it from him or her for it is part of life. Jealousy is an emotion but controllable for we have the brain to analyze and there are no valid reasons to get wrong because of jealousy. Jealousy if not controlled is like love that kills, yes jealousy kills.
