I think they may have started with shorter blogs in mind, @swalia. I guess they discovered that shorter doesn’t pay….
@sunil Hasten the process of what, Suny? If you mean of moving to microblogging, I think some people might be happy for that. The MyLot format seems to be quite popular. It could work on other sites, if they can get the conversations going well. LB has a good community for conversation. But I think the discussions are easier to follow with the threaded replies they have at MyLot.

@swalia This is the first time I’ve been able to properly access the site in days. I logged in to find 1) a spam message from “Mara”: 2) no ads on the pages; 3) the account balance and points history are missing. Wow! Not a good day for LB š |

@ptrikha15 Many successful bloggers are now posting only once or twice per week. Some will post on specific days, so readers know when to expect new content. The rest of the week can be spent working on a different blog, writing on sites like this one, or promoting the posts on social media. |
|
Thank you for answering, @support. I hope you can find a longer term solution because the situation seems to have worsened this week. It used to be exceedingly rare that I got such an error. Then last week it started to happen once or twice a day. Tonight it was at a point where the errors were happening more often than I was able to get a page to load. It was a block of roughly 30 minutes during which the chances of getting a page to load were almost nil. Had I been a new visitor to the site, I would likely have given up and gone away. I may not have given the site another chance. |
|
Whatever needs to be done, I hope support can get it sorted quickly. As you say, this sort of problem hurts the site. Slow load time affects site ranking – but even more importantly, if the site won’t load properly, members and potential readers will stop using the site. It seems it was worst while a number of new posts were being approved. I don’t know if that info helps the staff any, but I figure I’d want to know… |
|
Well, thank you, @bestwriter! It appears I’d forgotten to do that.Ā I’m glad you were around to mention it. |
|
Sorry, I’m not seeing these ads so I don’t know if there’s anything that can be done. If it’s InfoLinks, I don’t think there is much that can be done. They seem to pop up one after another. I’ve heard other users mentioning that they were back, which actually surprised me because other bloggers have told me they pay exceedingly poorly. I had hoped we were done with them here at LB, and that the site owners had opted for some ad services that offer a better rate of pay. |

Diamonds are often marked so they can be returned to their owner if lost or stolen. I would never take the chance of trying to pawn a diamond or hold onto it until a reward is offered. The best thing is to go to the police to turn it in – and to get a copy of the incident report when they log it intoĀ their property, in case there is a reward offered later! |

@kaka135 The bathroom basin is very small here, and would not fit even a newborn! But many parents will bathe very small children in the kitchen sink, as it’s similar to the sink where the nurses show parents how to bathe their babies in hospital. We did that for many months with our children. Most of them were bathed in the kitchen sink at least until they could sit up on their own. |

@lovern I don’t really know hat happened with that accusation. I never saw the original message myself; I only heard about it. I’m curious as to whether they were trying to say that users who joined LB were self-plagiarizing because some chose to republish posts here or on other sites. If that’s the case, they’re wrong: Sheridan himself said that all rights remain with the authors. |

@kaka135 In my son’s case, it’s part of his autism. But I know a lot of kids don’t like water to get into their eyes or around their mouth and nose. They become frightened that they will drown or that their eyes will burn. It panics them, which just makes matters worse. There are now some specially made jugs for bath small children. A friend of mine had one that was shaped so it would only pour over the hair, and not get any water into her daughter’s eyes. I think tools like this can make bathing children a lot easier. I wish those jugs had been available when my children were very little! |

I am seeing ads from mgidĀ and adnow. Nothing pornographic, although they do lean in the direction of most similar ads – sensationalist and suggestive. But it’s nothing like ads I’ve seen on some sites. Yes, there are sometimes contextual ads that respond to a person’s browsing habits. But I don’t believe that these particular ads work that way, as they generally seem to come up the same for everyone. I think they are basically just click bait. Whether it’s something to do with celebrity gossip, money or Ā sex, they’re pretty much the same from one network to another and for all viewers. |

@swalia I suspect one of the reasons for it being quiet on LiteracyBase is that the site is not actively recruiting anywhere. Users must come to the site by word of mouth, and many newbies find it difficult to navigate a site with this specific type of interface. I know a lot of people said they disliked BlogJob, even when it was paying well, because they are using a WordPress platform with the forum setup similar to what we have here at LiteracyBase. I know I had first encountered this type of setup at EliteWriters and it was confusing to get around the profiles and such, even though I was familiar with publishing on WP. Another issue is the fact that users cannot publish instantly, nor can we access our articles for the purpose of editing. And we are kept only to a front-end post submissionĀ page that lacks some of the formattingĀ and HTML options that other sites (e.g. Daily Two Cents and its sister sites) make available to help improve writing quality and even SEO. I would recommend to the staff that at least the HTML tab I would recommend to the staff that the HTML tab be made accessible on the “Post Now” formĀ and that users be allowed to post without moderation after they have been deemed trustworthy. I think being able to post right away without a moderation queue would encourage the newer users, and being able to edit or even delete posts would be a big bonus for those who have shown themselves to be reliable contributors. People don’t like feeling that their content is being controlled by the site. It’s a sign of good faith when the site allows users to edit their own content or delete it if they will. There may be some who would abuse that feature, but it’s better to deal with just the abusers rather than to give the impression that the site owners don’t trust their writers. |

Extending the domain registration is a good sign that there is some money available to keep the site going until it begins to pay for itself. And now that we are again seeing ads, hopefully, there will be some good revenue coming in! |

@swalia It’s good that they have a low threshold for cashing out, especially if earning is slow on the site. I hope lots of people can earn there but honestlyĀ if their minimum posts length is only 200 words, I think it will be difficult for the site to gain any kind of ranking. Even at 300 words, we are just at the bare minimum for a post to get noticed by the search engines. |
