@peachpurple How sad that moms can’t access the nursery! It’s so important for babies to be close to mother to bond. Some hospitals here in Canada are very different in their approach. Many women I know gave birth in a sterile delivery room, and were made to share a room afterwards with one or more others. I was very lucky to have a local hospital with a special birthing unit. It meant giving birth in my own room with my family present, having a private room with place for my husband to stay at my side, and of course baby rooming in with us. Not everyone here is so lucky.

@lovern It may be a long time before the Philippines are added to many writing sites. There are a number of issues that affect countries in Asia. Often it is initially because of problems processing payments, which is why some sites say they will only pay if the user has a verified international PayPal account. There have also been issues with abuse from some unscrupulous people in your country. Unfortunately, these cheaters have ruined things for all your countrymen and women 🙁 |

@lovern Try to go to your profile, and click on the “Everything” in the filter as support explains above. Does this fix the problem? |

@peachpurple It’s very sad when breastfeeding is not supported by the hospital staff! I gave birth to all of my children in a special maternity wing that emphasized birth in the mother’s own room instead of in an operating room turned into a delivery room. We had our babies by our sides at all times, unless the infant needed watching or the mother requested the baby be in the nursery overnight. All the nurses were trained to respect the mother’s wishes to breastfeed her baby, and I never had any troubles with this. But I did hear of others moms who were prevented from nursing, both at that hospital and elsewhere… |

@morgoodie Watch out! The graphics bug is addictive! Once you learn to add text, you’ll be wanting to use the eyedropper tool to sample colours from the image in order to pull out a colour from the image itself when adding the text. Or adding an extra layer with a box that can be placed under the text to increase contrast and improve readability. Or heading to the free fonts sites to download new fonts to play with. GIMP is a gateway into a whole world of graphics addiction!
@lovern Adding an image to your text, especially a unique image that suggests some aspect of the article itself, can increase your SEO value and can significantly boost the number of both internal and external readers who will click on your link. It takes a bit of time and skill to select the right image, and to crop or add text, or even create a collage or other derivative work. But doing this can add more value to your writing. This is the same across all writing and blogging sites, and across all the web too. |

@grecy095 That’s a really good question! I can’t see any reason why you would not be allowed to make a second request if you reached $10 twice in the month. While some people might prefer to wait and see how much will be in their coffers towards the end of the month, I can see why others might prefer to make a new request each time they reach the threshold. It can help make a person feel more secure. |

@bestweiter I appreciated your post, and have shared it across several of my social networks. It is true that some of these writing challenges will pay less, especially if we choose to approach them from a personal or creative angle. I think perhaps our next challenge will have to be something with more SEO value…. |

I think a lot of people are beginning to be concerned about the lack of ads, the slow approval times, and the fluctuations in the amounts our posts are being awarded. It would help a lot to see some positive change in at least one of these areas, as it is still several days to the first scheduled payment and several of the active members are not posting. If there is some news that @support or @admin can tell us to help alleviate the concerns, it would be good to say it now. Improved transparency goes a long way toward boosting morale. |

@morgoodie Have you ever done an ABC tracking sheet for her? (That’s “antecedent, behaviour, consequence.”) It might help you to get a better idea what triggers her outbursts, and maybe even some warning signs you & she could use to help prevent them. |

@grecy095 You really can’t tell from the photo. Actually, it’s not easy to tell even up close sometimes! But my hair reaches almost all the way down to my hips now, and I have to buy extra-large elastics if I want to tie it up in a ponytail. I cannot wear a hat or a bicycle helmet if my hair is tied up, because the ponytail is too thick and pushes the hat up. My two older daughters have the same problem: when they do their hair up for cadets, the bun is about the size of a grapefruit. If not done correctly, it will push up on their beret or other headdress. Today my middle daughter was wearing a Glengarry, which has two ribbons that are supposed to flow down the back. Her bun pushed the ribbons outwards, instead of down. I have more hair on half my head than most people have on their whole head. When the hair dresser tried to braid it years ago, the braid was too thick for her to hold it and continue weaving it. I knew a Haitian lady who could do it, but boy she used to tug hard on my hair! I loved the styles she did for me, but it was like torture getting her to put them in. |

@swalia and @scheng There had been InfoLink ads when I first started here, but they were annoying and interfered with our use of the site on occasion. I wonder if perhaps there were earning from that program, which provide a bit of a buffer while the admin are looking for a better source of revenue? |
|
@swalia I don’t write personal posts, but some of my posts have a broader audience and higher SEO value than others. For example, some of the writing challenges have less SEO value because I approached them creatively instead of trying to write for page views. I can definitely understand if these posts are given less pay than a similar post of the same length, but a more practical topic and broader reach. But even a more practical post in this batch earned less than a shorter post from a few days earlier. That does make me wonder what’s changed.
@grecy095 I’m sorry to hear you’re so discouraged, sis! I hope you will soon find new inspiration. |
|
@peachpurple Most of my posts are a fair bit longer than 300 words, as well. Many are in the 600-900 word range, and I find these have been receiving lower compensation this week. In one instance, I actually had a shorter post that earned more than the longer post. There wasn’t a significant difference between them in terms of quality, target audience, etc. |
|
@grecy095 My problem is I have a very full head of super thick, coarse hair. Most hair dressers have never seen anything like it, so they have no idea how to handle it… |

@bestwriter I had already decided to take time mostly for reading and sharing this weekend, but I think it’s good it coincided with the current period of slow approvals. I think maybe the staff were a little overwhelmed by too many posts at once. It’s good to back off a little until things are caught up. I also wondered if we’d get less pay when there are more posts. I suspect this to be so. My two posts today were lower paying than they might have been. |
