Great example of why a human proofreader is always needed! Thanks for the comic relief, Grace 😀

As I had suspected, that user did get up to mischief! @peachpurple, this was the same character I had mentioned earlier when I said in another thread that there was one I had my eye on. When I last looked, the Wish forum had been created but nothing posted there. But it smelled fishy, so I’m not at all surprised that this person went on to plagiarize. And yes, good catch on this other new member! I suspect if he sees the mention he may lay low for a while, which is why I avoided mentioning the “Alex” person when I first noticed something was up. I wonder if there’s any possibility these are the same person creating multiple accounts? If so, @support would be best to block the IP address. But it’s because of abuse like this that I suggested new users should be moderated, even to the point of limiting their forum postings. Moderating all of our posts, when most of those who post regularly here are very trustworthy, is doing nothing to prevent plagiarism. It’s keeping a much closer eye on new users that will weed out the bad apples… |

@morgoodie I posted a link yesterday that has a whole month’s worth of challenges from @sandyks. I put it in a new thread in this forum 😀 http://172.104.9.193/groups/writing-challenges-tips/forum/topic/writing-challenges-for-june/
@bestwriter I am not understanding how the comment moderation works. It seems most of my comments now go live right away, and I never see the CAPTCHA anymore for commenting. I don’t understand why this one was held… |

Welcome @shavkat! I haven’t encountered any rules that address what kind of display name we can have. I’m sure it’s fine to use the same name for both username and display name. If ever you have a technical question you want answered by the staff, you can just tag @support 🙂 |

@peachpurple I tried to comment earlier, but I am having trouble today with that. I keep getting error messages that say, “Are you sure you want to do that?” Who, me? What, send Peachy a comment about cameras? Yes! Yes, I’m sure….. Anyway, I was just trying to say that I had similar issues with batteries and digital cameras. I like the devices that come with their own rechargeable battery. They seem to be most reliable. |

@bestwriter My comment is apparently sitting in moderation. Hopefully it will come up soon…. |

Thanks so much, @bestwriter! I’m looking forward to reading your post, Grace. I knew the flowers would appeal to you 🙂 |

@bestwriter Sometimes writing what we love pays off. I just published a post that I wrote for fun, and it earned the highest amount I’ve ever had here on LB:
http://172.104.9.193/facebook-stereotype-liberal-fair/
It’s not as long as some that I’ve written, nor as informative. But I’m very pleased with the earnings 😀 |

I just noticed a new member who has created a suspicious group with no content as yet. I am hoping it’s just that the person hasn’t had time to add to their group or to interact with anyone on the site, but I will keep an eye open all the same… |

We all use public hospitals here in Canada, @peachpurple. So our hospitals are good, but they aren’t as fancy in a lot of ways as private ones in the US. A lot of the hospitals in some cities are very old. Montreal has just recently been working on building new mega-hospitals, because many of the old ones were over 100 years old. The buildings were in disrepair, and couldn’t be fixed at a reasonable cost. The only way to get what you want with the system, is to ask. Ask in great number, and ask often. Ask repeatedly. Tell the politicians and the doctors why you need certain improvements. If they can see a benefit like raising the tech profile of your country, things will come. But it’s a long, hard process most times… |

Than you to @support for deleting this plagiarist’s account. The clean-up is going to be a big job! |
|
@lovern It was smart of you to ask the question! Good for you 🙂 I am unsure about plagiarism scans. Perhaps the admin didn’t think it was needed for the forum?
@scheng1 Yes, it’s a bit of clever trickery. But as soon as the admin see they will be deleted. Perhaps they thought nobody would notice the posts if they hid them away in the forum. Yes, the IP address will need to be blocked too.
@grecy095 I really feel for you, sis. It’s got to be tough waiting to hear the news of their banning. you wrote the posts, and this new member plagiarized. Your content will stand, for sure. |

@morgoodie This isn’t exactly how I’d do it, but if you ever want to play with the colours within an image (e.g. grayscale with one yellow accent, or something like that) this tut will help:

|

@morgoodie When you set the image to show in grayscale, did you do it to just one layer or the whole file? If you want to do that kind of contrast between B&W and colour, you need to be sure to work in layers and to only apply the grayscale to one layer. Canva has filters you can apply to your background image. I think one is for grayscale. Then you just add the text on top and it gets treated as a new layer with full colour. |

@grecy095 No, treatments wouldn’t help. I have many more hairs on my head than other people, which is why it’s so thick. My daughters are the same, except one has fine hair like her father and the other has really coarse hair shaft like me. you can see the difference. The coarse one has shorter hair, but she has a much bigger bun than her sister. There is no need to relax the hair. It’s just thick and coarse. It’s naturally wavy, but not overly curly or frizzy. When the braid was done by the hair dresser, the hair was still wet from being washed. It was as tightly packed as it can go, and it was still too much for her. |
