@sunil It’s not a plagiarism checker I installed, but a grammar checker. I wanted to test it out and see if it’s worth using. So far it has mostly warned me to take out the unnecessary commas. It’s caught a few typos, but nothing my browser wasn’t already set to catch. I’d say about 80% of the things it flags as possible mistakes are not. Either it’s Canadian spelling (like “colour” instead of “color”) or it’s the app completely misinterpreting the usage of a word in the context. I’m not at all discouraged that the app is saying my grammar is wrong. I know enough to realize that the example they’re showing in the explanation of the error doesn’t apply. It’s just annoying to see all the red underlining. It disrupts the flow of my writing even if it’s just a forum comment 😉

@peachpurple Yes, the problem with the inline images is resolved. So you can upload an image of a decent size and it will not be minimized or distorted. So far I’ve only tried with a pic optimized for Pinterest (736 x 1102 px) but I imagine as long as it’s no wider than 750 px you should be able to upload bigger images. |

@peachpurple It sounds to me like the staff is living somewhere in Asia, and probably working a day job. That might explain why many times there are long gaps of time when we get no response from staff. |

@morgoodie I hadn’t heard about Usability Hub. Sounds interesting. I might look into it when I have more time. |

@peachpurple Thank you so much for the giggle, Peachy. I needed that! I am just waiting for school to end in a couple of weeks. I am also waiting on monies from a few smaller sources, and then one really big one. I need to buy many things for the family. The first thing is we all need new cell phones. This is part of why the alarm didn’t go off, and it’s not the first time lately we’ve had an issue. The phones are three years old now and were not the latest models when we got them… |

@morgoodie I really like not springing forward and falling back anymore! We’re in the one town hereabouts that doesn’t do DST. But that means when we go for appointments in a neighbouring town, we have to convert in summer! Also, a lot of people here don’t know how to talk about the time zones, and many online calendars and mobile phone providers don’t have a setting to shut off the automatic DST. So when we use them, we have to select a different time zone for half the year. Also, a lot of people here don’t know how to talk about the time zones, and many online calendars and mobile phone providers don’t have a setting to shut off the automatic DST. So when we use them, we have to select a different time zone for half the year. That can & does sometimes reset appointments that are saved, so we end up having to call and confirm if the time we have is right. It would be great if everyone just stopped the “daylight savings” silliness. You can’t hold sunset with your clock, or make the daylight hours longer…
@bestwriter My understanding is the staff are located in Asia (perhaps Pakistan, as Rapid Blue suggested.) The site is hosted on servers in the US – if I understood correctly. |

@manasi TextBrokers UK does take some international writers, but only from countries where English is the native language. I believe they accept UK & Ireland, Canada, Australia, and possibly New Zealand right now.
@morgoodie You have to supply a sample text to TextBrokers US? The UK site gives you a few topics to choose from and asks for a really short sample. I think it was 250-300 words, for mine.
@melissa1024 I hope TextBrokers works out for you! One piece of advice is to try to check your texts with Copyscape if you can, and pay really close attention to your writing style. Even if the clients are really happy with a text, TextBrokers may not rate you as highly. My understanding is that it’s the site that determines your classification (and thus your pay rate.) And they’re the ones who decide if you will get the 5-star rating (if you are eligible to apply for it.) That can quadruple your pay rate, so it’s really worth working towards it!
@scheng1 I’ve only done five assignments. Three paid better than usual because they were medical topics and needed more research than usual. Most articles there pay only about half, so I guess I got lucky 🙂 |

@bestwriter I don’t like to discuss the specifics of my earnings, but suffice it to say I’ve gone a good bit beyond 22 cents on a number of my posts. I do believe that part of the reason for the latest one paying so well is the mention of Facebook, as @morgoodie suggested. For the rest, it had a second image that adds value to the post, and the Conservative vs. Liberal feud is also a hot topic right now too. @morgoodie I have yet to post the second part of my 2-parter. I wonder if it will do as well as the first? |

Because my husband is gone working much of the time he doesn’t handle many of the small, day-to-day decisions. I take care of things like appointments, giving permission for the kids to go out for a few hours, having friends sleep over, etc. But for the bigger matters, I always make sure to discuss it with him before telling the kids what has been decided. And no matter whether it’s big or small, we always communicate with our kids why they can or can’t do something, and we try to involve them in the decision-making process. |

I just posted a comment at 10:40 am in Western Canada. The history entry says, “June 8, 2016 10:40 pm.” That’s 12 hours ahead of my time zone, Mountain Time, which is UTC – 7 hours. The furthest east you can go in the United States, the time is only three hours ahead of me right now. And in winter only two hours. There is NO WAY that a 12-hour difference puts the servers anywhere in the United States. (Not saying they aren’t in the US. But maybe someone has reset the time on the site?) The timings I’m seeing are more likely to place the server in India, Pakistan, or one of the other countries in the UTC + 5 hours time zone. It’s even more interesting that I’m reading from all of you in India and Malaysia, that things are happening on the site when you’re asleep. Because for me halfway around the world where it’s night when you are enjoying daytime, the bulk of the work for approving posts seems to happen overnight or early in the day. I generally see a large number of posts approved around midnight, or sometimes later in the night and leading on towards morning. It makes me wonder if there’s an explanation for this…. Want to know what the exact time difference is for you? Post a comment and then immediately check your points history for the timestamp. That will tell you what time the site has. How many hours’ difference do you see?
@peachpurple If I’m correct, Malaysia is UTC + 8 hours, or roughly 2 am on June 9th right now. The time on the site would now be 11 pm on June 8th. Does that sound right to you? |

TextBroker UK is working out well. Not many articles on the weekend, but lots during the week! I’ve only taken five assignments because three were medical topics that needed research. But for just those ones I’ve earned almost 40 euros. They pay every Friday for anyone who has more than 10 euros and requests payment by Thursday. So I’ll probably request tonight, because I’m not waiting for any new monies to be added right now. |

Sorry, having issues with my computer this morning & I ended up putting the comment in the wrong place… |

Celery is a staple for us in our house. I have two children who love to munch on it raw, and we include the aromatic in many of the foods we cook too. I can often go through two or more big bunches of celery in a week, and if I am doing a lot of cooking I will ask my husband to bring four bunches at once. |

@scheng1 Agreed that many aren’t currently in an SEO-friendly format, but as @morgoodie says the writer can find creative ways to shift the topic in that direction. |

@mrdprince Stealing content for the purpose of earning money on web traffic can be very lucrative. Especially when the ones who do it will set up dozens of fake accounts, and even multiple web sites that they fill with stolen content and then monetize. They are never just doing it for a few pennies here and there, which is why when there is one spammer or plagiarist, there are bound the be others. About translations, yes they can be detected. It’s easiest if you know where the person is from and what languages they speak. i used to track down these plagiarists in probably 2 minutes or so, when it was going on at Bubblews. I reported dozens a day. |
