Well when i saw the first movie i thought it left out quite a bit of details compared to the book, but in general it was the same even though i did prefer the first book against the film.
Now about the second book, i haven’t finished it, i was almost at the end but went to see the movie. I think the second movie was very close to the book and it…[Read more]

There is channel called Epic. Sometimes I watch that channel. Programs are good. They try to describe events of epics/puranas in a better way considering the social condition of that time. It is not based on blind faith but a better rationalists approach to see things.
You can give a try.

@Mahesh
Appreciate your input on this topic. There are many families whom I know where the bread earner unfortunately passed away suddenly due to unforeseen circumstances, luckily for the family members they had done all insurance, house and other required setup which are required to run life in a smooth way. No doubt this cannot replace the…[Read more]

Appreciate you following the discussion about depression. Life is neither a bed or roses nor a crown of thorns it is what one makes his or her life to be and what one thinks about the situation which he or she is in. You win some and lose some that is what life is. People who seem to understand and appreciate this view of life seem to be better…[Read more]

@ichchhemrityu Yes some have been distorted very much. There is currently a show “ChandraNandini” on Star Plus, which looks like it has distorted the historical events during Chandragupta Maurya’s time a bit too much. Programs like “Bharat Ek Khoj” were better and even “The Sword of Tipu Sultan”.

@tarasquirrel I have not read this collection, but perhaps will in future. As of now, I have resumed reading books and novels after a long time, and I get less time to do so.
PEEUSH TRIKHA started the topic Works by Alistair MacLean? in the forum Book Readers Club 7 years, 8 months ago
I first came to know about Alistair MacLean through one of my friends who was reading his novel “The Guns of Navarone” which was also made into a movie. Later another friend of mine who was his fan introduced me to some of the movies based on Alistair’s works- “Guns of Navarone” ,”Force 10 from Navarone” and “Ice Station Zebra”. I read his books…[Read more]

Thank you Sarah for creating a new topic. However, I am not much help in this one. I have not read this book. I have watched the film only. And heard the sequel is also coming. We were just talking about film adaptation under another topic. You can provide your feed back on the film adaptation of this book. How would you rate the film against the…[Read more]
Thanks Peeush, the group will be more interesting if more people provides their inputs. Try to add your friends who loves book.
I understand your feelings when you love some books and the film adaptation distorts them. I have similar feelings when I watched one of my favourite book. Other friends who did not read that book liked the movie very…[Read more]
@IchchheMrityu I am now relishing this forum very much. So much that I can’t resist coming back here, discussing, commenting and may be starting newer discussions in near future! 🙂 Yes, adaptations can be great if we want viwers in say English to see a great work written in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, or even Chinese, Japanese, Italian, German, F…[Read more]
Hi Peeush, Thank you for bringing up this topic.
I agree with Sarah. Book is always better than screen adaptation.
However I would say there are several advantages of the adaptation also. Let me list down those, let me know your views on that.
1. The very first point I would like to mention is sometimes we can not exactly understand the…[Read more]

Well, I do have links and I share on twitter.
@tarasquirrel yes books can have more details. Movies have to cut out some part or shorten it. Exceptions can be in shorter length stories. In cases like “3 idiots” – an adaptation of “Five Point someone” by Chetan Bhagat, the movie was almost as good as the novel, and in some places better. But of course, it also depends on the script writer,…[Read more]

I think planning for emergencies is a good way to handle stress. Knowing problems are going to occur makes you think that you are much ahead of your problems. And this means you can proactively take the choices. I think we can be prepared in terms of financial and the family side too. Many people focus on the small issues and then plan for them.…[Read more]
