I have given “beggars” cash before. I feel a need to help people. Not all of them are addicts or drunks. There are those that have no choice to be one the street because in life sh*t happens. To be honest I have been in a that type of situation. We were hungry and hadn’t eaten for a couple of days. I had no money and was camping outside for a good month. So I put my pride aside and asked people for a few dollars or any change. I was blessed to have received any. It is the people who were generous enough to give a little to those who have nothing. That day I fed myself and a few others I knew were starving. So I do my best to give to those that are in need. Your heart will guide you, just follow it.
