Useful information for people suffering from colds. In my case I generally get some cold during change of temperature. Once I had cold for more than four months as there was a viral. It did not stop even after medicines and the doctor advised. It is better to eat normal food and live your life as you live rather than taking medicines as nothing works. I have also stopped taking cold drinks, water from refrigerator, ice creams etc.
I get colds generally when the temperature is varying around plus or minus 10 degrees Celsius suddenly due to changing weather pattern, I also have nasal problem a bit of sinus which add to it. Breathing polluted air, dust particles, pollen’s of parthenium and some other plants also result in colds and coughs. Thanks for the share

Really, you had colds for four months! That would be hard. A colds can always bring you a headache.
My daughter said that having colds cannot be because you always drink cold water. ACtually for me, I love cold drinks. Maybe you will really get colds when you are not used to drinking cold drinks then suddely you drink one.
Sometimes too, you first have to normalize your body like when you came from the outside where it was too hot, you should stabilize your temperature first before you drink the cold water.

Agree with the facts stated by you in the article, parents have to be taken care of by their children once they get old or bedridden. But the sad thing is it cannot be expected of this from the children. Many of the parents when bringing up their children provide them all the facilities and pamper them and do not teach them to do the basic things which they are supposed to stay independently and take other responsibilities. So since this is not inculcated since childhood they can neither take care of themselves or their nuclear families properly how we used to live leave alone taking care of their parents which is ones bounden duty towards them.
Till the times things are good and parents healthy and earning they look at them as assets but once their health deteriorates or they are no more employed due to age and incomes are limited from them they are perceived as a liability and are given chores like nanny sitting for their children which they are supposed to bring up. These children still want to behave as children even after growing up and having a family of their own. Many are usually abroad and used to those lifestyle and consider coming to the motherland and meeting their parents and taking care of them as a burden and a unwanted nuisance which they can ill afford as they stand to lose their jobs if they come to take care of parents. This is a materialistic thinking which has been inculcated in them since childhood and society has become like that in general too. The brides nowadays are also too independent and would not want to share or be with the parents of the groom and want a different setup. These are the hard truths.
The best thing for elders is to stay independent and have a different support system which are available in our country even today. As being independent they can lead their lives happily. They should also not expect anything from their children but only give that is the fact one has to live with. If some children do take care of their parents such parents should consider themselves fortunate but stay independent to the best extent possible. Too much emotional attachment should not be there. A well written article.

I always pray that when me and my hubby gets older, we can still take care of each other.
But if that day comes, when one of us cannot anymore, I would ask for the help of our daughter to provide us a caregiver at home. At least, we are at our own house not together with other seniors who would be senile or already demented that living with them will be difficult.
So as early as now, I keep eating lots of fruits and vegetables, exercise my body as well as my brain, drink lots of water , take vitamin supplements and most of all always have a happy disposition.

Useful information. But my experience with people who I knew who had cancer is what I would like to share. In many of the cases people were healthy, ate good food did not have major health issues for more than 20 years. But suddenly were diagnosed with cancer when they had some other health issue for which they went for treatment. Two of them passed away within six months after coming to know of it.
While the third gentleman whom I knew well had put up a fight with cancer and doctors were surprised with his recovery as it was in final stages. But after a few months of this recovery which took place in one and half years. Cancer again reappeared in his body and he suffered a painful death.
This person had no bad habits was a teetotaler and ate food in the house only did not consume junk food. It was unfortunate that he could not succeed in his fight. But there are many success stories too. That was because in their case cancer was diagnosed early. That did the trick.

@Krishna Kumar ,
That is true. It is an advantage that we discover an ailment earlier than discovering it later because it will already be so difficult to battle it.
Sad indeed that others lives a healthy lifestyle, yet they still had cancer.
In this case, i think it is already in the genes. It is said that when family members had cancer, we are at risk too.
That is why, Angelina Jolie had done what she can to combat cancer of the breast while it was early. Her mother had it and she too may be at risk with it.

I love to travel, to see a lot of trees, beautiful rivers and seas. Traveling is reinvigorating!
Our life is quite busy these days. Capitalism / Globalisation / Inflation and so many others economic concepts wants us to work hard and really hard for just to sustain ourselves. As a result, this is how a week is defined for most of us
Monday = Work like an ass
Tuesday = Run like a deer
Wednesday = Stressed like a goat
Thursday = Shout like a dog
Friday = Play like a Monkey (in office)
… As a result …
Saturday = Sleep like a Tortoise
Sunday = Probably the only day we can live human life.
Due to busy schedule as stated above, we rarely get time these days. Hence, we are more focused on job, work, internal pleasures, sleep etc. We rarely think of moving out. We do not consider the fact that by moving out, we are learning new climates and understanding new cultures. We don’t have time for all that.
Yes, we are getting exposed to diseases due to that but our schedule does not approve caring for that. Anyways, a nice post.
