Nomus wrote a new post, Blood donation is like saving a life 7 years, 8 months ago

Probably one the noble social cause is BLOOD DONATION, something which is within our reach and a simple way we can make a huge difference to the society at large. We need to build a vibrant, active and social […]

    • I agree, donating blood is a noble deed because it can save the life of another who needs it most. Good thing there are non-government organizations who conduct blood donation drive to help local blood banks have reserved blood for those who need it.

    • Blood donation forms a important social responsibility of each and every individual in the society. There are many organizations and bloodbanks who conduct these drives on a regular basis. The advantages of donating blood are you feel good about doing your bit to save a life as life is precious and many deaths occur due to not getting the right group of blood for the patient who needs it. This very true especially in the case of patients whose blood group is rare and difficult to find.

Some care is also to be taken when donating blood. One should not be taking medicines if one is wanting to donate blood. It should be voluntary and should not be sold. It should be always donated at registered blood banks which are certified by government agencies and they need to be checked properly before going there. Care should be taken and proper safe instruments should be used for taking blood from the donors as other wise they too may get infected. The blood of the donors should also be checked well for any health issues before accepting the same.

Mahesh wrote a new post, Things We Can Do to reduce Pollution 7 years, 8 months ago

We all are facing the issues with the pollution. And there are very serious issues that are arising due to the carbon footprint. And not a lot of people are helping the economy. I would say that it is right time […]

    • What you enumerated were alternative sources of energy that will help save the environment from pollution and further degradation. It is true, we need to lessen carbon footprint; and this has been a hot topic among developing and developed countries, as to to had caused so much pollution/greenhouse gases that results to global warming and climate change which mostly affects poor or developing countries.

    • Agree with all the methods which have been well enunciated in the article. I feel the most important thing is the attitude of human behavior which is materialistic and the craving for more and more new things when already possessing those. People keep changing the mobiles every three to six months to buy a new model, similar is the case with computers, laptops, ipads, notebooks and other such IT related systems. Look at this a technology like yoga which is an ancient system does not pollute but instead betters ones life and causes less pollution. While technology like the one I mentioned which are important also have a negative effect on ones life and need constant upgradation. It is not a one time purchase and use for many years as it earlier used to be. Companies want to increase their sales and are indulging in offers to lure customers and selling products which increase carbon footprint.

In Indian one good change when it comes to power generation which I have seen is the use of solar energy. There are many big solar power plants which are being constructed and run successfully all over the country. India has abundant solar power and it is a clean source of energy. The school where I used to work earlier has solar power everything is connected to only this and the school does not but any electricity outside. It is a big school with around 1500 children. I liked that one aspect about the school. Imagine all schools doing the same and how much power is saved and how clean energy systems will become popular among the public as children are having good influence on parents as to what to buy.

Aquariums are known to be exotic and entertaining for anyone who is interested into underwater life. There are plenty of things we can look at when it comes to the aquarium. And we can learn a lot about the fish […]

    • An interesting subject which I like. I like aquatic life. I have been to water bodies and have observed many fish and different reptiles like snakes and amphibians too. Going and being the waterbodies I find calms ones mind and provides the much required freshness for the mind which will be taxed due to our regular schedules in life. One can also observe many birds species which seek food near these water bodies. I have been to three aquariums in my life.

The first two are in Hyderabad which I used to visit when I was young one was at Jawahar Bal Bhavan and the second on was at Rotary park. The third one I visited was at Chennai. The ones in Hyderabad were well maintained at that time I really do not know what the situation is now. As this was many years back. One more thing was at the time the water in the Hussain Sagar lake was crystal clear it has been totally polluted now. I could clearly see many fish in the lake and snakes too at that time. The information provided above makes a good read whenever one happens to visit these cities going there would be definitely worth the experience.

    • I like to watch fish swimming, along with other water creatures. They are so beautiful to look at even in small aquariums.

I think planning for emergencies is a good way to handle stress. Knowing problems are going to occur makes you think that you are much ahead of your problems. And this means you can proactively take the choices. I think we can be prepared in terms of financial and the family side too. Many people focus on the small issues and then plan for them.…[Read more]

    • I agree, one has to be cautious in posting personal matters, photos, etc. because there are so many scammers, thieves, waiting for a clue. It is better to spend time on writing/blog sites like Literacybase.com where your effort and time are compensated.

      • It is so logical one can’t imagine how anyone could miss the chance of writing here, getting comments, and earning… but some people are born stupid.

    • Had he tried , he would love it here because a long post about a minimum of 500 words can earn him .22 while a shorterone , minimum of 300 words, can earn him $.15 . If he is industrious and have lots of time on the net, he can hit more than the minimum amount for the monthly payout.

Anyway, some people really would snob a writing site at once, because they don’t know yet that writing can give you fulfillment and friends here at LB. Fulfillment, because you got paid and you earn a lot of friends.

Maybe you should show him your proof of payment. 🙂

    • Same thing I did. I sent Kris two messages about this site… and he ‘doesn’t have time’ When something bad happens to him on Facebook, he’ll learn

Nature is both beautiful and devastating. And it can be interesting to see how it can change the shape of the planets. It works in such a random way that we don’t know how to prepare ourselves for the changes. It […]

    • All the phenomena mentioned above have their destructive streak. There are many active volcanoes in different parts of the world the nearest one to us being in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. There are also many active volcanoes in Japan, Italy, South America, Africa and even in Ireland here the volcano erupted from the ice and was so shown on television. When we think of Tsunami the most recent ones which did the most damage are the ones in Japan and they rebuilt the country back to normal very fast the second one is in our own India. This started from Indonesia from under the ocean as a earthquake occured. The waves reached countries in Bay of Bengal, Indian ocean and also went till Oman in the Arabian Sea region. This caused wide spread destruction.

Lightnings, floods and landslides are a common happening in many parts of the world and in India too. Floods and Occur annually and deforestation is also resulting in large scale landslides especially in the mountain regions in North India. Hectares of lands are flooded during monsoons and cause widespread damage to crops and loss to farmers. Deaths due to lightnings are normal in rural areas people are ignorant or fail to appreciate and follow safety measures which have to be put in place. Even in cities like Mumbai deaths due to landslides take place every monsoon. Hope these inputs are useful.
