@alina and @kaylar I have been here on this site for more than three months and have more than 150 posts on this site and have been paid every month. They never kept back my posts unpublished for more than a day. Incidentally my last month’s payment from this site was $31.30 although it would be lesser this month the 4th, due to my lesser activity.

@Ваљон now the site has since gone for almost 2 years you would never see the fun it provided who knew how to take the best advantage from a writing site.

Rajaraman K wrote a new post, The Concept of Health 8 years, 2 months ago

Health is a superior concept that includes aspects of physical, mental, intellectual, social and spiritual, all in close contact and dependence, which contributes to our well being and balance. Living in the […]

    • I feel that health is the most important thing in life. we run for money but we forget to pay attention to what our body has to say

    • Everyone must have the concept of health from the very beginning because health is wealth and health is God’s blessing on earth. ‘Health’ is an elusive word. Most people who consider themselves healthy are not. And many people who are suffering from some known disease, may be relatively healthy.

Health is a concept which does not merely relate to the absence of disease, of healthy working of organs, or having good thoughts. Health is a holistic concept. It relates to a person as a whole. Not just the person you see, but also the person you ‘feel’. Health is a tri-une of three parts:

This is probably the easiest to define and yet it is sometimes the most difficult to understand. Physical health can be defined as a state in which all the body parts are anatomically intact and are performing their physiological functions perfectly and harmoniously. It is a very simplistic definition, but it basically covers everything like:

All the body parts should be there
All of them are in their natural place and position
None of them has any pathology
All of them are doing their physiological functions properly
And they work with each other harmoniously

    • Yes everyone in the world takes ones health for granted since childhood. The concept that our body is a machine and has to be taken care well is not taught and highlighted. And this leads many to neglect their health by taking the same for granted. Till the time they land into some health issue or the other.

They seem to realize the value of their health only after the damage has been done and it is irreversible. Till that time people feel such things happen to others and not to me as I have never had any health issues in my life till now. This careless attitude is what is inviting health problems to oneself. Many also neglect or never care the messages which our body gives that something is really bad with our body and needs to be attended to. Till the time it crashes they keep continuing with it. A well written article to be read once in a few days by all.

Adobo is a popular dish in the Philippines. It is so popular that even if some of us may have relocated abroad, knowing how to cook this dish (Mom’s version) is a sure fire way to cure homesickness. Similar to any […]

    • I did not become familiar with adobo until I moved to Texas. It’s an ingredient in Mexican recipes. I see it’s used in the Philippines as well. Adobo or not, I love most recipes with spinach. This one sounds delish! 🙂

      • Thanks for the comment! Actually, adobo is a type of dish – not really an ingredient. Basically, when we say that the dish is adobo, it means that it is cooked in soy sauce and vinegar 🙂 I have heard that there is also a Mexican “adobo” – I wouldn’t be surprised as our cuisine is very much derived from different cultures, but haven’t tried it (or seen it) yet.

    • We have lots of things in the country The Philippines, that are cooked like the adobo. Vegetables are so abundantly growing everywhere in the country. We have a specified several meters lot in the school planted with vegetables of different names. Eggplants for examples are good to be cooked in adobo style. The okra is also best for adobo. But Kangkong, water-grown or upland grown, is one of my favorites especially when it is cooked like the adobo.

Kangkong or kangkung, the so-called river spinach, is a good source of proteins, vitamins, minerals. It is grown in various Asian countries like Thailand, Burma, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh, India, Bengal, and of course in our country, the Philippines.

Cooking Kangkong adobo is easy. You could make your own recipe. There are a lot of way of cooking this river spinach veggie. Let’s have a good viand with this recipe. Happy eating.

      • Hmm, that’s interesting. I haven’t tried cooking the eggplant adobo-style so now I am intrigued to give it a try! The okra, I usually cook it steamed (or boiled) then dipped in shrimp paste and vinegar condiment for added flavour – yum! Those were the simple dishes I miss back home so there are times that I try to cook them here.

suny wrote a new post, Why is vegetarian good for your health? 8 years, 2 months ago

There are different versions on usefulness of vegetarian meals or even the meaning of vegetarian itself. You will be surprised to note that some people do not consider seafood especially fish as non vegetarian […]

    • If I had to choose between an all meat diet versus an all vegetarian diet, I would choose vegetarian. For survival reasons, if nothing else. You don’t have to hunt your food down and kill it. You can eat it raw and often don’t need to use a knife or other eating utensil. You can leave it on the tree and not worry about food storage or spoilage. There are all kinds of good reasons to be vegetarian. But I’m still not a vegetarian. However, I have modified my diet to include more vegetables and less meat.

    • I gave up all non-vegetarian food in 2004 and do not miss anything including my most favorite dish the Tandoori Chicken.

    • killing animal like killing plants, and there is lots of vitamins and menirals that are in animals not in the vegetarian, I am not against vegetarin but its life style eveyone eats what they like, but to say that is healthy its not true because there and that is just an example, there are type of protein that human body needs it , that is not in plant, also some type of iron that is in animal only. So there are healhty vegetarian you and healthy meat, you can not live eating only one of them. or you will have some health issues, balance is required in everything, life , work , food and everything, though nice post , but human needs both source of food as vegetable and fruits and also animal meats. I can not imagine my self eat only vegetable food or just fruits. thanks for the effort in the post, a good day

Rajaraman K wrote a new post, 5 Foods that Increase your Blood Sugar 8 years, 2 months ago

As a rule, all food that tastes sweet contains large amounts of glucose, which means it has a high glycemic index. Here are five foods that increase your blood sugar levels, a fact that is really important if y […]

    • I am not a diabetic and just a couple of days I got my report and noticed I have low blood sugar. I am a small eater and that is what my doctor says could be the issue. I am asked to eat several times in the day

    • It is very important to be health conscious to avoid bad sicknesses, but sometimes human as we are we cannot avoid temptation to eat foods that are against the body.It is bad to eat foods like what you mentioned here if having a diabetic family members in the past for that could be hereditary if not through abuse.

    • Enjoy all foods in moderation but if you are already diabetic, avoiding certain foods is something you must do. My late father was diabetic.

    • First I tell you what is blood sugar and from where it reachesin our blood. Blood sugar or blood glucose refers to sugar that is transported through the bloodstream to supply energy to all the cells in our bodies.

The sugar is made from the food we eat. The human body regulates blood glucose levels so that they are neither too high nor too low – maintaining a condition of stability or equilibrium in the blood’s internal environment (homeostasis) is necessary for our bodies to function.

The use of the word “sugar” in “blood sugar” is a colloquial term, a misnomer. Glucose, one type of sugar, is the one in the bloodstream that feeds cells and matters to us.

The human digestive system breaks down the carbohydrates from food into various sugar molecules – one of them is glucose, the body’s principal source of energy. The glucose goes straight from the digestive system into the bloodstream after we have consumed and digested food. Glucose can only enter cells if there is insulin in the bloodstream too. Without any insulin the cells would starve.

After we eat, blood sugar concentrations rise, the pancreas releases insulin automatically so that the glucose enters cells, as more and more cells receive glucose, blood sugar levels come down to normal again. Excess glucose is stored as glycogen (stored glucose) in the liver and muscles.
