Tiada wrote a new post, The tips on blogging and commenting at LiteracyBase 7 years, 8 months ago

As we all known, there are few ways of earning at LiteracyBase. I would like to touch on two ways of earning and some tips on that.

Earn via blogging. This could be the main source of earning at LiteracyBase […]

    • Very well said. Yeah these things do help a lot, when i was new here, i confused a bit and almost were not able to post my blog for about 4 to 5 days. But now I am able to know some rules and this blog of yours will surely help me ans many other new bloggers and lb members here.
I don’t think and I never heard of anyone getting 22 cents for posting blog, but 15 Cents, but yes I haven’t tried posting a long 800 Words blog, i am blogging for about 330 to 400 words on an average and for comments, its sometimes difficult to comment for about 170 Words, so that it may earn 2 cents but still uts good and worth. Besides I am also still new here and learning with experience and will share my experience with You and other Literacy Base Members as well

    • OK Ceci. Somebody said you could earn more than 15 cents for a blog post which was an eye-opening and very helpful tip. But I did not know that the number of words in comments mattered. News to me!

But it really doesn’t matter to me. I make comments according to what I’m trying to communicate. It could be as little as 20 words, but I do my best not to make my comments 300 words. If I find myself making a comment or contributing to or starting a topic in a group/forum and suddenly realize that can be turned into a blog post, it gets turned into a blog post! That’s how it works for me.

What I’m trying to figure out is why my blog posts are being avoided? Nobody’s commenting. Are my posts that boring or are they too complicated to understand?? (O.o) I need to find the “magic post formula” to get folks to comment AND share. Whew! It’s a tough mission but I’m working on it! 🙂 😀

    • Those are great statistics about word count for comments. I wish there was word count for our blogs.

    • When it comes to the blogs i am not sure because i am new here and haven’t started blogging yet. I mainly put myself into commenting other blogs and surfing around to see how the site works.

I have, however, noticed the earnings due to length of comments also. I am usually a big commenter. If i comment on something then it is because i have something to say and i like to try and explain myself as much as i can.

I noticed the amounts due to length because i did make one or two comments a little smaller than most and saw the difference in the balance.

If what you say about the blogs are true about the 0.22 cents then i do believe that if you have a good idea for a blog and it is a bit long then you sould divide it into 2 blogs. I think it is a better choice, just like you said.

    • The blog is very informative. I’m a newbie on literacy base, I have found your blog very helpful. I have not yet written any blog, but with so much of information you have laid down Am sure I will be writing my first blog very soon. This has also encouraged me to make valuable comments.

    • Yes, I think most users concern about how we can redeem from the site, and when we will get paid too. This post will be helpful to many people, even for those who are considering to join.

I am glad to know that the minimum payout is still $10, at least for PayPal, which is my preferably payment processor. If the rule hasn’t changed since the time I joined, as long as we redeem by end of the month, then we will get paid on 10th next month.

    • I am glad you mentioned the server is slow for everyone as I thought it was just me! I hope they can sort that in time. For now I will just enjoy reading and posting seeing as I am new and the first payday is a long way off.

    • I just joined and still a baby on this website so far I like what I’ve found and hope to learn new things earn a bit of cash and make some new friends. Thanks for letting me know how people are paid thru this site and for letting me know it’s a bit slow. I love reading different blogs and adding my 2 cents as well.

    • Tahnks for the info about redemption dates. It was a thing i was wondering about when it comes to payment and you have explained it nicely.

When it comes to the server i have also found that it takes a little long to submit things but this isn’t a veyr big issue for me yet. Either way i hope they fix it. Everybody likes things uploading faster than slower.

Tiada wrote a new post, How to stopping the children from sticking to T.V 7 years, 8 months ago

Most of the parent know we should not let the children stay in front of the T.V for long hour or glued to T.V. Having said that, how to  stop  a T.V addiction or get the children away from the T.V is a big c […]

    • That is true. Since the parents should be the models to their children, they shouldn’t be watching TV too, but instead be with the children to teach and guide them in their homework.

They should see to it that they will study their lessons. Allow them to watch TV only on Saturdays. Sunday morning and afternoon, they can also be allowed. However in the evening no more. They have to prepare their school bags and do their homework.

Better still on Friday night, they should do their homeworks, so by Sunday night they can just study.

    • @Dina is right, we only allowed to watch the T.V after finishing our homework or even during Friday night and weekend is better.
My kids only able to watch T.V when they are at their granny’s house, we have no T.V at home, but computer is another kind of T.V too nowadays.

My kids love to watch the Youtube or some videos clips at the social media too, but always restricted by us.

And, we always mention the computer is belong to me, not them, so they can simply manipulate it or doing something on it. They do alert on this.

We allocate 2 hours cartoon watching time every week for them to watch some cartoon at Youtube.
My kids love to watch the Youtube or some videos clips at the social media too, but always restricted by us,same as what mentioned by @michelle

And, we always mention the computer is belong to me, not them, so they can simply manipulate it or doing something on it. They do alert on this.

We allocate 2 hours cartoon watching time every week for them to watch some cartoon at Youtube. They are looking forward to this section every week and have to finish all the homework first.

And, they have ice cream section on Monday but provided have a nail cut first. This help us to set up a life rhythm of the kids, so they won’t have much argument when we urge them to do something as per scheduled.

We might look for a used car if we have not enough budget, this is the saving or monthly income limitation or a reality that with no choice.

The banks always only provide loan with the monthly repayment amount […]

    • I think using used RV makes sense for rent. I don’t think I’d buy anything long term. I didn’t find much use for the same.

    • Used cars may fall within the budget but will it be for a long term use? It is impontant to note that though it may be within our budget today, can it be use for a while before requiring servicing. If care is not taken, you can get the car but servicing will end up costing you more which whe putting together could have help you in getting a new car.

    • As a former car dealer rep, I can tell you not to buy without being informed. Take advantage of all information available in the internet about the car you are interested in and don’t let the rep talk you into a car you don’t want. Also, new cars can be brought at a reasonable low down price especially during the fall months. When you have a lot of new cars on the lot, the dealership is losing money so they have to, practically, settle on low prices in order to get rid of them. Bottom line, whether new or not, do your homework and be informed.

    • Division of labour is the fastest way of doing things but the problem with it is that those you assign part of your duties to are not able to accomplish the task the way you will have done or wish for hence you doing everything yourself. With techology all of that is changing as you can now pay all your bills online so the moverment is less.

    • I usually do the errands on the same time and that’s how I try to save some time.

    • This is where online transactions comes handy – bills payment.

At our office, we have an employee whose job is to go to banks for the deposits of the different affiliates. Since she also go to the bank where I pay my credit card, I send them through her, because she’s accorded good service since our company is one of the valued clients.

And every Christmas I have a gift for her, for being so gracious in paying my credit card.

    • So true, we can do some many things online now and included to reduce the numbers of going out and stuck in the traffic jam.
Agree with @Raphael, that we can do more things now in one shot with the current technology level we embraced with. We can paying bill online, blogging at LiteracyBase while having our cloths washing in the washing machine, having our tea cooking in the kitchen and have the vacuum robot to cleaning the floor. Thanks to the innovation and technology!

I love @dina’s way which ask someone to help her to pay for the credit card bill too. We can ask for help around if the one is good and kind enough to give us a hand. Off course, we have to know how to return with kindness too. Thus, Dina has a Christmas gift for her every year, this one of the way.
And, we can bake some cakes, cookies and food for the neighbour whom help us for pay our bills too or run some errands for us, and help in saving our time.

    • This is really a pity to see a housewife in that position. Is it not controlling her from doing what she really wants to be? She has been reduced to financially dependent in the society. Doesn’t she have some wishes and desires? How a husband treat his wife like that? Totally shame on him.
Of course, there are some sites that may provide some pocket money. But, they are not reliable.
First, the lady/housewife should have financial freedom and she must be in a position to earn something for her own expenses. If her husband can not fulfill her wants and desires what is the minimum thing he can give her? Totally absurd.

    • A pity that this housewife is struggling. Those tips are very useful. Now in this time and age, the woman has got to be smart and be self-reliant. If something were to happen to the main breadwinner, she has to step up to the plate. There is a website called the penny hoarder that lists plenty of opportunities to earn some side money as well as some full time positions. It is an informative website that can give anybody ideas to how to make some extra income. Hope this helps.

    • Yes, I agree. The stay at home wife should do these things so she also can have money of her own to buy whatever she likes to buy.

Having those hobbies turned to business is what I always see on televisions. Some are so artistic, that they make those accessories which they sell online.

A former officemate of mine, resigned because her business of second hand clothes, bags and shoes, became so prolific because she established a niche for Them through her online website where she would take pictures of them and post it in Facebook. Friends and friends of friend , relatives and a lot more would order that she eventually resigned to also have a stall in their house while she also sells them online.

One should really be determined to prosper.

    • Yes, you are right, @sivasubrahmanyam, that’s really pity that the housewife lose her financial independency after decided to stay at home and take care of the children and the family. In fact, the wife or stay at home one should get paid too, say a quarter of his/her partner’s monthly income as a appreciation of her/his contribution to the family.
Can we image, how much we need to pay for sending the children to the baby sitter? And how much it need for hiring a domestic assistant? The housewife does all this stuffs and get no paid. It is seems a bit not fair to her.
@caleb, thanks for sharing the website. Hope this help for those needed, do the opportunities have any geographical factor restriction?
@michelle, USD20 is too little, right? Agree with you, the housewife need some leaves or “me “ time as the working lady too, and deserve for some pay or something nice or some gifts or a treat. So, my husband treated me and himself too on V day, haha!:P

    • Thanks for sharing your ideas. I think even when a mother needs to stay at home she should find something she is passionate about and find a way to make some money out of it. Like you said art and crafts come in handly even selling them at a low price it will get you someone to refer you to others and get a little client base on you things.

If you like to write them find a way to make yourself a blog and use google adsense to earn some money.

There are alot of ways to get a little cash. You just need to be a bit creative.

    • Scientists find when pasta is combined with other foods, such as
cheese, chili con carne, beans or tuna fish, these added ingredients may
lower the glycemic index of a pasta-based meal. Pasta-based meal +
other healthy ingredients = a lower GI index of the meal = more nutritious and filling.

      Pasta can be beneficial for

A study published by Diabetes Care concluded
      grain-based foods (especially
whole grain varieties) with a low

    • As a mother the biggest and the most time taking task for me is feeding my son. This is something which is like a burden on my shoulders after every few hours.

I agree to your point that feeding while watching TV is not advisable. But this is my only lifeline. If he is not engrossed in television or tablet he will not open his mouth for sure.

I really wish i will find a solution soon.

    • hi Dr. Kikol, I have no T.V and no tablet at home only smart phone. But, my 8 year-old daughter might love to read while eating. We will scold her and warn to take away her meal.
Because, we want her to taste, appreciate and enjoy the real food. Your kids might be a little younger, but only serve him food when he is hungry, maybe can help to push him to eat faster or open his mouth. 🙂

    • I am happy that you really knows the things to do with regards to the schooling of your kids.

Indeed, it would be nice that the children be sent on an afternoon schedule and would just be fetched by the working mother, as she comes home from work.

Though, I think in our place kindergarten or prep-school starts at about 9:00 a.m. AT least, by then the child could have slept well. ANd yes, they should be trained to sleep early at night so they won’t detest waking up early for school the next day,

Sometimes, we as parents should think of ways on how we can make things easier for our kids lest we too will be stressed by them not waking up early or not wanting to go to school.

    • @Dina, haha, my solution is not sending him out for nursery, so he can sleep as much as he can, but his father doesn’t like him to sleep too much till too late to wake up.

Yes, agree with you, the pressure from the parent will caused the children not willing to go to nursery and sometimes, too much homework will made the children don’t like to go to nursery too.

    • Yes, when you are a stay at home, you can just educate your kid yourself. There are a lot of learning books that you can show to him to aid your teaching. Besides indeed you can teach him a lot of things more, like good manners, Godly teachings and yes crafts that a kid can do.

In our times as a kid, we were taught how to read the ABCs through an old retired teacher/ auntie who teaches what we call “kartilla”.

At least before we went to formal first primary grade, we already know how to read as well as write the ABCs amongst other things.

As to the tuition fee, just minimal.

    • Thanks for sharing, yes, we learnt from some retired teacher or educated auntie or uncles when we were kids, and some of us learn drawing or colouring when attended the class in the church. The guide taught us sing and dance as well. What a sweet memory.

I prefer to let my kid stay at home not only cost saving, but I don’t want him to be burdened by too many home work, have no time to play around and climb the trees. Hahah!
