I did my master’s online and if anything, it was harder than classes I took in a classroom. People think online degrees are goof off courses, no way. I had to write so many papers and do so many creative projects each week that I considered dropping out so many times. I actually had to take an extension on one final course project due to stress.

I felt good today for the first time in a long time! Last night I started on a new anti-psychotic/sleep medication and it really worked!!! I got a great night’s sleep for the first time in like 4 months, it was so nice. That meant I didn’t need a nap this afternoon and I’m not worrying about having trouble falling asleep tonight. I went grocery shopping which is a challenge for me, I did pretty good – about 15 minutes worth of shopping before my anxiety got to me. That’s progress for me! I did find out yesterday I will be needing some major oral surgery this summer so I’m worrying a bit about that but not obsessing on it, its a ways away and I will have a lot of support to help me through it. |

I think illnesses like HIV and cancer could have been cured by now if the drug companies wanted them to be. They make too much money off of them though so they keep making drugs that treat some of the disease but doesn’t cure it or cure all of it so they still make money. |

I guess I should note that I’m a bit bias about the socialization piece as I was a public school teacher for 5 years and a private school teacher for 2 😛 |

Why did they let the girls work? They were working as stage hands, etc on school plays. |

I think that homeschooled children end up with a better education than those that attend traditional school because they get an individualized education. I do worry though that some kids miss out on other points of view or socialization opportunities with other kids though. |

Even as adults, they don’t seem to understand they were abused and taken advantage of. That group of girls – now grown women – threw him a going away party when he moved to Florida. He’d just been fired from his job because he was discovered to have been in a relationship with a student when she was 17 at the high school he then taught at…at the same time he was still in a relationship with all those women. Its sickening to see how he controlled them and made them think what he was doing was okay. |

I can’t figure out how to do the @name correctly! Here almost anyone can vote. The only people who can’t are people convicted of certain crimes. I will vote in this year’s Presidential election for sure! |

I have quite a few pending posts but I’m sure they will be approved soon. That is why I’m concentrating on the forums for awhile. |

When I taught, I used to spend so much on supplies! You’re allowed to count $200 on your taxes but that barely touches it. At one point, I had to buy a teacher’s edition of a classroom text book because the school wouldn’t buy one. Buying workbooks to copy pages for the kids was common, etc. Especially since I taught special education, my school wanted to give us nothing…our budget was nonexistent! |

To quote the comic Ron White – people are voting against the death penalty and Texas just put in an express lane! I’m totally in favor of it and I think the US takes to long to put people to death. You murder someone or molest a child, I think you get one appeal and if you lose – out in front of a firing squad the next morning at dawn. Gets rid of the scum and cuts down on the cost of prisons. |
