suny wrote a new post, Pros and cons of legalizing drugs 8 years, 4 months ago

Legalizing drugs is fine for a couple of insignificant countries. But for a progressive country like ours, which has lot to contribute to the betterment of the world, it would be a step backwards. Why don’t we s […]

    • In the country where I live any kind of drug except in the pharmacy are not legalized.I do not favor illegal drug to be legalized.

    • Legalizing drugs is actually the recommended approach of the United Nations today. The focus needs to move from criminalizing addiction, to harm reduction and treating addiction as the medical concern that it is.

In countries that have legalized marijuana and other drugs, there has been no ill effect. In fact, crime rates tend to drop and young people are less likely to consume.

    • Drug legalization would yield tax revenues of $46.7 billion annually, assuming legal drugs were taxed at rates comparable to those on alcohol and tobacco, they said. Approximately $8.7 billion of this revenue would result from the legalization of marijuana, $32.6 billion from legalization of cocaine and heroin, and $5.5 billion from legalization of all other drugs.

“Legalization would reduce state and federal deficits by eliminating expenditure on prohibition enforcement — arrests, prosecutions, and incarceration — and by allowing governments to collect tax revenue on legalized sales,” Miron and Waldock wrote.

Marijuana is already believed to be the nation’s number one cash crop, exceeding the combined value of wheat and corn. Pot is also the leading cash crop in at least a dozen states, including California and North Carolina.

Of course, opponents of drug legalization argue that passage of the ballot would increase crime and ultimately worsen peoples’ health,
rendering legalization a danger to public safety, offsetting the potential economic gains.

Anthony Davis wrote a new post, Do you worry about followers from Muslim nations? 8 years, 4 months ago

I know it’s being a bit paranoid but for good reason, because if you have new followers on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or your own blog or writing site, do you sometimes wonder if the NSA is keeping tabs on […]

    • It is sad that on account of a few fanatics the entire community is condemned.

    • Those terrorists are Syrian Muslims. The Abusayafs in Phils are Muslims, so most of them are not in the right wings.

    • Worry about followers from Muslim nations? I’m not sure that I can be worried. I’m kind of ignorant when it comes to geography. Not really sure I can even identify Muslim nations on the map. The Internet is border-less. The only time the Internet has borders is when the specific countries choose to create the barriers. Build a psychological wall in my head? For me, that would take too much effort. As far as I’m concerned if you want to follow or friend me and you don’t do anything to make me feel like your association may be a threat, or you intend to harass me, then … Howdy! 🙂

    • No the Muslims nation is a peaceful nation and the terrorists on earth have no religion their religion becomes money and murder and nothing else.
As a Muslim, I am tired of condemning terrorist attacks being carried out by inherently violent people who hijack my religion. I am tired of condemning these attacks to people who are calm and apathetic when Muslims are killed by these same radicalized terrorists.

I am tired of hearing the word “terrorist” not being used when the suspect in a terrorist attack is a non-Muslim. I am tired of the “mentally disabled” excuse being recycled when the suspect in a terrorist attack is a Caucasian. I am tired of seeing hundreds of terrorist attacks carried out by non-Muslims not get the same coverage of even a single terrorist attack where the suspect happens to be Muslim

According to the FBI, 94% of terrorist attacks carried out in the United States from 1980 to 2005 have been by non-Muslims. This means that an American terrorist suspect is over nine times more likely to be a non-Muslim than a Muslim. According to this same report, there were more Jewish acts of terrorism in the United States than Islamic, yet when was the last time we heard about the threat of Jewish terrorism in the media?

For the same exact reasons that we cannot blame the entire religion of Judaism or Christianity for the violent actions of those carrying out crimes under the names of these religions, we have absolutely no justifiable grounds to blame Muslims for terrorism.

There have been 140,000 terror attacks committed worldwide since 1970. Even if Muslims carried out all of these attacks (which is an absurd assumption given the fact mentioned in my first point), those terrorists would represent less than 0.00009 percent of all Muslims.

To put things into perspective, this means that you are more likely to be struck by lightening in your lifetime than a Muslim is likely to commit a terrorist attack during that same timespan.

I have traveled a lot so you can call me a frequent flyer. But most of the times while traveling for my pleasure trips I chose a budget airline. You can call it beneficial in two ways one, it is required by my […]

    • Reading about your trips, I am reminded very quickly why I don’t like to travel much! Just reading about all the different legs of your journey has me tired! I would be the girl to prefer a direct flight if at all possible – and actually, a train better than a plane. I find it more comfortable and more interesting.

oksummer wrote a new post, All About Chocolates 8 years, 4 months ago

I love chocolate! What is not to love about it. There are many varieties to chose from from dark to sweet and bittersweet. There is brown and white chocolate.  Chocolate is good for you too…in moderate amounts […]

    • I simply love chocolates and my main shopping while on holiday is chocolates. They say dark chocolates is better but I have yet to acquire a taste for it.

    • Chocolate can actually be healthy for you too – if you eat a high-quality type that contains a lot of the cocoa. I love it! Dark, bittersweet chocolate is my favourite.

    • First it is true that chocolate is sweet and many alike love to eat it.It also come in many appetising shapes and colors.

Secondly chocolate kills the appetite for nutritious food. Many chocolates have little or no milk in it. Chocolate is sugary and has its toll on the teeth. The fact that many eat frozen chocolate also increases teeth problems.

We Love Chocolate at our own Peril.

    • Chocolate is one of my favorite food. It’s tasty, it’s smooth, it’s succulent, it’s not filling but fulfilling. Who doesn’t like chocolate anyway? Am sure everyone loves chocolate except for one person that I know of. My niece hates anything chocolate. There’s a time during Christmas when a friend just decided to bombard us with chocolates when he came visiting, and my nieces really enjoyed themselves. It was just after Christmas when my niece fell I’ll and all she could think of was the chocolates that she had eaten. So from that day she vowed that she will never eat chocolate again. True to her word up until now she does not like anything thar has any chocolate in it. As for me i have never hated chocolate and I hope I never do coz it makes me just happy as you have said. I have always associated stress with chocolates no wonder when some women are stressed out they put on weight so it’s the chocolate that does the magic.

I have had winter days where it was too cold to cook on a grill and summer days where it was too hot to bear being out doors. So in both cases I like to cook on a cast iron pan with ribs. The grease dripps down off the meat and when the meat is cooked to perfection the grill marks on it just look good.

You all know me, I rant a lot but rant against the very site I write for? That would be plain dumb.

I am a newbie so far. Reason I came here in the first place was to have a second site that would replace the one I came from originally, Can I name names? Well, most of us have had good times and bad times at many different writing sites. I think…[Read more]
