I admire people who do fasting as part of their religious activities. It is good to go on fasting, I think I can do it but I should have water or fruits. Unhealthy people could not go on fasting, and it is best to ask the doctor first before doing it.

Thanks for the feedback. In India fasting in almost all the religions is observed in different forms but the sentiment behind all these is to cleanse oneself spiritually and purify ones thoughts and deeds. It is taught since childhood and for children the fast is generally for a period of half day depending on their age. The kind of food which is served to people who are fasting is also different from the normal food. Generally it is observed by ordinary folk either in the family or as a community so there is a sense of bonding and focus towards to supreme being.
There are many modern health issues which are created by humans due to the lifestyle being practiced by them. While it was a normal thing and was a way of life in the olden days and people where also physically fit to fast as the kind of work they used to do was physical work. Nowadays people mostly work in offices and have no physical work but only desk work this makes them find it difficult to follow the procedure. The good thing is in India people follow this procedure of fasting and are happy and enthusiastic doing so.

Thank you for the compliment. Yes, I am glad I have the freedom to make my choices, even though some might not be agreed by many people, it does not really matter as I know what I am doing and I know these will be good for myself and my family too. Following the trend or majority might not be a good thing, but we must first listen to our heart, listen to our inner message. After recognizing and hearing to ourselves, I suppose we just have to work on it.
I have always read, being happy is actually a choice. Though I am always aware of this, I do not all the time make the choice to be happy. I still choose to be angry, worry or depressed sometimes. That is why I think these three steps are very important to us if our ultimate goal is to be happy. I hope many of us will be learning from this course.
