I am lucky enough to live near Oxford in the UK and it is easy to get to London, so I can wander round the art galleries a lot. I rather wish I had paid a bit more attention to this period when I did art history at University, but I was more interested in modern art back then. It was certainly an interesting age.

This reminds me of the Bible verse that tells us to love our neighbour like ourselves. I wish now I had not been so prone to procrastination all my life. I am a perfectionist and look at a task and then become daunted by my inability to do it well enough according to my own lights. Often it would have been fine. Then I stop for a coffee and nothing gets done!

Who we associate with is important. I am so blessed to have some close friends who stuck by me through thick and thin and are always there for me and vice versa. Thankfully I have never had a really bad friend, but I do take my time to get to know people.

My sister and I used to fight a lot as children, but as adults we made friends. I think a lot of siblings have a big rivalry thing going on. I know we did. Now we just accept each other for who we both are and that we are very, very different in character.

When I was young, dental care was free here in the UK. I think it made all the difference because everyone looked after their teeth better. Not many people realise bad teeth can affect other areas of health. Mine are pretty good and I put it down to that until I was forty or so I got the dental care free that I can no longer afford.

I can understand the way you feel. Weddings do seem to have become ridiculously expensive and silly all over the world, not just India.
