I have read the book. It is by Khalid Husseini but I have not seen the movie. It is a beautifully written book and I cry every time I read it.

Hehe, I agree if we had 48 hours in a day, I would probably be saying the same thing. Better time management and I think I need to make my children help me a bit more around the house. I am a bit of perfectionist when it comes to things so I find it easier to fold clothes neatly and put all things in the proper places than let my children throw things around haphazardly. But if they are to learn, they have to make mistakes first. |

Prayer for forgiveness of sins: “My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!” This dua should be recited as often as possible to seek forgiveness of our sins. |

@swalia @rby3881 Do you the “other” site has any future? i log in almost everyday but it looks so deserted and there is no word from the admin. I wonder if the admins realize it is not only our work and words that gets invested in a site. Sometimes our, dreams, emotions and aspirations also become a part of the site and silence on their part is so hurtful and disturbing.

Just a request @jentleheart. Can we have a photo or picture to go along with this group. It looks a little empty at the moment. You can download free images from Pixabay.com |

We all have some idea about which are the dirtiest places in our homes. Experts say that our toilets are cleaner than we think because they are cleaned regularly with disinfectants and household cleaners . Our kitchens are dirtier than we think because germs multiply there much quicker. Sometimes I wonder how clean and hygienic our keyboards and remote controls are? We use them while eating, drinking, when we have colds, and I have seen my kids sneeze over them. Remote controls get chewed and drooled all over by young toddlers and there are probably food particles trapped under the keyboards . I usually turn my keyboard upside down and tap it to dislodge trapped particles. I wrap a piece of cloth around my finger to clean between the keys and I hope this is enough. For my remote control, i just wipe it with a damp cloth. How do you clean your keyboards and remote controls? |

It is really great to hear about all those members who are receiving bonus awards for their quality posts. Congrats @swalia @bestwriter One thing that troubles me slightly is how many active members are here and can such few members sustain a site. Every day I see hardly 10-12 people here. I also hope that this site grows and does not end belly up. |

I just saw a very beautiful video . It is about an ordinary man who has an extra ordinary heart. He does simple things and yet those things have a huge impact on those around him.
While walking down the street he puts a pot under a leaking drain pipe so that other passers-by do not get wet. He shares his food with a hungry dog. He gives his money to a beggar woman and her daughter. He quietly puts a bunch of bananas outside the door of his old neighbor. He helps a woman push her heavy food cart across the street. For doing these simple acts of kindness, he gets nothing and yet he gets everything. It is a matter of perspective.
The hungry dog becomes his best friend. Flowers grow in the pot under the leaking drainpipe around which butterflies flutter. The beggar woman sends her daughter to school. The food vendor pays it forward and gives away food to a needy. The old neighbor lady gives him a big hug.
I had tears in my eyes while I was watching this video. It is true that every day we have the opportunity to help others. We can share a meal with a hungry person without going hungry ourselves. We can clothe a cold homeless guy, quietly help someone in need.
We do not become rich from helping others but our life and soul does get enriched. |

@morgoodie Another great series for children is Deltora Quest series by Australian writer Emily Rodda. it is also a great series for younger children in which a young boy Lief with help of palace guard looks for precious stones to complete a magical belt that will rid his land of evil forces. The language is simple and the books full of action and adventure. If you can look up these books in a library, I am sure your son will love them. My daughter is a voracious reader so i am continually looking for good, clean books for her and my son. Do keep sharing book recommendations.

@kaka135 I agree with everything @morgoodie has said in her comment. You will be missed so I hope you will pop in to say hi and share some pics of our nephew with us. All the best to you and you both are in our prayers. This place will seem very quiet while you are gone but I know from experience that the first few weeks after delivery are very exhausting and sleep and rest are of paramount importance. |

@morgoodie I am sure your son will love Alex Rider and Power of Five series by Anthony Horowitz. My 12 yr old son was an extremely reluctant reader and could never finish any book but once he started reading these books, he is hooked. He reads them over and over again. I have to be extremely choosy when it comes to books accuse i do not want my children to be exposed to bad things early in life so I avoid books with foul language, sex scenes and gory stuff but Anthony Horowitz is perfect for young boys and girls. Great sense of humor and after a couple of books, Alex seems like your children’s best friend who might just come home for dinner one day 🙂 My children talk so much about him. |

Congratulations to all those hard-working Literacy Base members who have got a bonus. It is great to read about your success here. I hope this will motivate more people to write blogs here, including myself. Thank you for sharing your success story with us and i hope there are many more to come! |

@swalia This is such a beautiful comment:
You are so right. People with bad attitude teach us not to be like them. While people with positive attitude bring light to our lives and both are important for personal development. |

@peachpurple It is easy to get desperate and make empty promises. Being a mother I know that when one of my children is unwell, I feel very tense and yes, in that state it is easy to make so many empty promises and vow never to do anything bad again but this is not a long term solution. The best way is to do a little charity each day and keep praying for better things and for God’s help and blessings in times of trials. Walaikum assalam (and peace be upon you too) |
