I wonder this will help adults too, holding I mean 😀 On a serious note I am glad you did not medicate your little one. Wish more mothers took note of this.

My friend’s daughter a schizophrenic stayed with me for 6 months as her mother had problems dealing with her. I also found it difficult to handle her. I sent her to a halfway home. She spent a year there. Today she is back with her mother and is on medication which she has to take without break her whole life. She is normal and has a job.
It is the medicine that they have to take that can help them live a normal life.

People are more easily demoralized by depression and slower to recover if they are withdrawn and unreasonably self-critical or irritable, impulsive, and hypersensitive to loss.

Most people with major depression also show some signs of anxiety, and 15-30% have panic attacks. As a biological mechanism for coping with danger, anxiety creates a need for help or protection that may give way to despair if it is disappointed. Chronically anxious people may also medicate themselves with alcohol or drugs that can cause depression.

depression takes long time to diagnose and treat, i mean treat of course by control it and thats by meds as you say, some do live happel after, and some can not do it, but i guess medicine is better now and things can be fixed and hopefully there is ccomplet treatment
