    • I hope no such thing ever happens in the Philippines. It would be very sad but I don’t think the government and people will allow for such a thing to happen. These terrorists are really ruining the state of affairs all around the world!

    • Hi t z,

Thank you so much for your reply. May God in His Infinite Wisdom do not allow such thing to happen to our beloved country.

I think the Filipino People are politically matured enough not to allow such thing to happen. We cannot allow and afford Mindanao to become the training and breeding grounds for future and potential terrorist that will bring havoc not only to our country but to other country as well.

With this in mind, it is clear that Isis as a terrorist organization is losing its foothold in the Middle East that’s why they are considering to relocates or spread their own imaginary caliphate.

The Philippines is a Republican and a Democratic State. As such we don’t recognize any monarchy, much less any caliph or caliphate. A caliphate is not part of our history, culture and tradition. It is against our Constitution and existing laws.

Thus, those jihadist or Islamist terrorist must better think twice. If they declare a caliphate, I think there will be an all-out war between their local contact in Mindanao the Abu Sayyaf and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

As I mentioned in my blog, the Filipino People are far wiser than they could ever think. Maybe Isis is under estimating our resolve. To do so is very dangerous.

    • An article to be read by all writers and those working as journalists. Interesting to not that how many people are following the process to be followed and how many media companies are telling their journalists to stand by their words. It is the age of the paid media and that is what creates people of breaks them. This media also has the power to make or break governments. Media which is supposed to be the fourth estate. Has turned out to be a money making industry. It is sad but it is true. There are very few news papers which follow these canons strictly. Thanks for the share.

      • Hi Krishna,

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes you are right that there are “paid media” practitioners nowadays. Those journalists or media practitioners that consider only their selfish ends and see journalism as a means or vehicle for personal enrichment of aggrandizement prostitutes journalism as a profession and callings.

These type of media practitioners or journalists are a big shame to their profession and to their comrades in the profession.

We have a term in the Philippines for these shameless media practitioners or journalists and such practice. We called them “envelopemental

journalism”. Why? Simply because these hack writers or paid writers received their money from their patrons inside an envelope—meaning the money is contained inside an envelope given to a journalist or media practitioner, that’s why the term “envelopemental journalism”.

It is journalism for money and nothing else, to the disadvantaged and detriment of the public welfare. Such brand of journalism if ever we can call it journalism has no place in our society and must be immediately condemn and expose at once.

We can only hope and pray that the present and next generation of journalist will be true to their profession and callings.
Otherwise, journalism for sure will lose the very reason for its existence.

    • n That is true: Justice delayed is justice denied. This happens if judges and lawyers are conspiring.

      • Hi cely,

Thank you so much for your reply. It will be a very sad day indeed if there will come a time that there will be connivance between the judges and lawyers in deliberately delaying the speedy disposition of criminal cases.

That situation is not good for the person accused of any crimes especially “heinous crimes” where you cannot post any bail whatsoever.

The hard thing is that while the case is on-going the accused is languishing in jail for a long period of time only to be finally acquitted and release by the Supreme Court if ever that the case reached the court of last resort.

We know that the jail condition in our country is far from being ideal. Almost all jails are crowded and too full of prisoners. The food being fed to the prisoners are not that good either.

We cannot understand why it took so long before any given criminal case, say for example drug cases like sale of “shabu” could be disposed and terminated by the court.

Almost 60%-70% of the criminal cases pending trial in the Philippines are mostly drug cases which continue to clog every court docket.

I think there is a need for strict monitoring and regular inventory of all drug cases from all court so that the right to speedy trial of every accused will be a living reality.

    • That’s a sad state of the justice system in our country. The reason why many fear that the imposition of death penalty could not truly solve the problem of illegal drugs; what if the poor man who could not defend himself in court was sentenced to die, yet he was innocent of the charge against him?

It would be unfair, and like what you posted here, it was a case of injustice for that accused who languished in jail for so long in spite of being innocent!

      • Hi acelawrites,

Thanks again for your comment. Yes you are right—there’s always the great danger that innocent people wrongly accused of crime may die if and when the death penalty will be revive or re-impose in our country.

It is common knowledge that those who are being charged for the crime or offense of Illegal Drugs whether for possession or sale are always those who comes from the poor sector of our society.
The same is true for those being convicted for the sale of drugs—those who comes from the poor sector of our society or almost always on the poverty level.

The present campaign of the Duterte Administration against drugs or its “war on drugs” and the possible revival or re-imposition of the capital punishment or death penalty are two interconnected things.

On the level of principle yes we need to fight the drug menace in the Philippine society due to its pernicious effect which is quite obvious and is self-explanatory. However, such campaign against drugs much always be done in accordance and within the limitation provided for by law.

As they say, there’s always a thin blue line between law enforcement and taking the law into one’s hand i.e. EJK or the rise of vigilantism.

Krishna Kumar wrote a new post, Best Ways To Make A Crying Infant Laugh And Be Happy 7 years, 8 months ago

Credit image share to dreamsline.com happy-baby-22069407

When a human being is born the first thing you hear is a cry of the new born. The infant perfects this as a way of communication. He communicates with […]

    • A new mother of anyone taking care of a baby, especially those below one year old should know the “baby’s language,” and that is crying. This is to call the attention of the people around him that something is not good, or he is hungry, or wanted to be caressed.

What you had shared is a complete guide for mothers and babysitters.

      • There are many different things I observe especially how infants and children of today behave. I learn many new things observing them and these were some of the ones which belong to that. Infants nowadays seem to be more aware and intelligent compared to say those 20 to 30 years back. What is shows is that human brain is developing at a rapid pace while the size of the brain is slowly but surely becoming small.

Infants also like to have something in their hand to hold. Holding not only is an exercise for the hands and fingers but also teaches them to grip things and what I understand is gripping a toy makes them feel in control of things and if they like to enjoy the sound when the toy gripped is moved they tend to move their hands faster which is a good exercise for the hands of the infants. Thanks for the input, appreciate the same.

    • Well said. New born babies have their own little way of telling their story like for example if they are hungry, wetting, or sick. You will see all of those signs the way the act towards you as if their actions transmitting the words they cant even uttered or express. My childhood friend has a 7 years old baby boy. He’s so adorable but at the same time has lots of tantrums. He was crying so loud that everybody in the house would heared even some close neighboor outside the house. He will keep on crying a lot if you are not fast enough to respond on his likes most especially when his hungry, wetting, or sleepy. When his on a good mood he keep on smilling with every people he used to play with, grab your hair, slap you on the face, and keep on turning and turning around as if swaying in the rythm that he only knows. Taking care of new born babies need a lots endurance, patience, and love to get along well with them and to give the essential care they need for their growth.

      • Thanks for the feed back it helps me understand infants and children better. In my opinion if we try understand and communicate with them from the infancy stage then it would be of great help for the parents to handle him or her as they grow older. If the emotional bond is strong then the infant of the child will have lesser difficulties as they grow up. Their coping mechanism will also be far better. Attention has to be given to them and it is their right but one must be careful to see that they are not being spoilt as that creates trouble for them and parents when they grow up.

I have also seen infants of a year age slapping their brother and they also would want to come and attend the study center where the elder one is going. They want to be with them and they also would want to get what the elder one seems to get in their opinion. They do not want to be left out of the party of life. It is a interesting experience for me observing these things. The mother who is the basic provider and the care giver has to take good care of her health by giving herself sufficient rest and time as it is a must for tending properly to the children as it is energy draining and saps one of the energy and makes them tired running after them the whole day. Appreciate the information you provided.

    • good piece of work and good tips also, crying is not for attintion in babies world, it is for being hungery or having pain or his or her diaper is wet and needs to be changed

Are you fond of traveling? Then if you would like to see places, near and far, or even abroad, it is best to plan it while you are still young. Why? There are so many advantages of going places while you are still […]

    • What you have written in the article is very true. I have seen many elders who are aged but still want to travel a lot. In some ways it helps them but it is a problem for them in most of the cases. Many find it difficult to walk on the platforms in the railway stations or climb the stairs with their suitcase and the whole crowd is there. They face the same issue at the airports too. As the terminals are long and they find it tiring. Especially long distance travel. It is better when they are old they travel and eat light as it would do a great service to them.

Nagging health issues is also a problem which many face due to health related issues due to age. My take is if they would want to travel out it is better they go out somewhere nearby in the morning and come home by the afternoon. That way they will be in control of things. They can rest after they return. The trip is better if it is traveled somewhere nearby from home far distance travel is best avoided at that age. If one is very healthy and does not have to take any medicines then it is ok other wise it better avoided by the remaining people. Home and neighborhood are the safest place to move around. Thanks for the share.

      • Thank you Krishna Kumar for a very good response. It can be a blog in itself! (joke). Yes, you are right, adults should not travel very far from home if they are not physically able to do it.

So while young, people should take the opportunity to go places and meet a lot of people too! When they grow old, they would be happy to reminisce the people and beautiful places they had visited.

    • Thanks for the information and the tips , it make sense, but travelling old is nice too, other wise you would not see them everywhere, i went to holiday and i found the old travellers more than the young ones, really was surprised, but that how, i guess it is depending on the couple and the money how much

    • Thanks for the information but wasn’t it is better to travel when you are old because this is the time that you have plenty of time to spend than during young when you are too busy with your job. I know that it might be really troublesome to travel when old but why fear when you are near the end of your life. You should be enjoying life at this old age not fearing that you might face problems during the travel. But of course it is better if you travel with friends or family so that if anything happens, they can take care of you.
