I don’t have that, but I have a little saving and that is for my father. He is no longer entitled of medical insurance so I am saving my money for him to have his own medical insurance. He has diabetes and better prepared than not. I really want to travel, like visiting different countries, but I only say it because I am afraid of riding an…[Read more]

When we were children, my dad would give us all the pennies that he would have each day. We would save it in our banks and wait for them to get full. We would then count them out and put them in wrappers to take and put in our bank accounts. This was how he taught us to save money. After my nieces were born he would do this as well. He would save…[Read more]

It’s hard to save change when we have credit cards. But some times we will have cash hand on hand and yes, we save our change. As a matter of fact we just cashed in some change (about $100) not too long ago. Pennies add up!! 😉
My sister and I started taking vacations together along with my children. We would pick a new place to go that had some interesting sites to see and family oriented activities to do with the children. Of course, we always stayed at a hotel that had a pool since the children love to swim. We had always from the time we were young saved up our…[Read more]

From the response I read from above, it makes me create my own backyard. I dream to have our own backyard because both of my parents has a green thumb and I don’t have it. That is why I am a just a quality control food tester at home. I think they will be so happy if we have it. We don’t have a big backyard. Our backyard is like you will raise…[Read more]

Oh I love to know that you have coupons there. I only apply coupons of Mercury Drug. Mercury drug is a pharmacy/convenient store here in the Philippines. Aside from that, I have selected restaurant like McDonalds and Jollibee who have coupons to save a meal, but I never experienced having a coupon to use for grocery. That is why I am pushing some…[Read more]

@IcyBC I do not get my coupons from the newspaper. I just print them from coupon sites, but not all the time unless they have something that I am going to need right then. I also download my coupons to the Kroger app and this is so helpful. Buying store brand is a good way to save money on items and they are usually no different from name…[Read more]

I check for store coupons every week, and download them onto my app, the Kroger app, so when I go grocery shopping, I don’t have to remember to bring coupon.
I haven’t clipped paper coupon for a long time, since it is a pain to go buying the newspaper, cut out coupon, and carry them in my purse. I save money on buying store brand too after I…[Read more]

I only growing herbs in containers since I live in a condo, and having land isn’t their cup of tea, plus they have so many rules about growing thing like that.
I used my herbs for cooking, marinating the meat, poultry, and seafood. When summer ends, I collect the herbs, specially basil, dry them, and crumble them up to bottle for future uses. I…[Read more]

We usually cook our food at home. This time we need to spend money wisely. Our place is not capable to raise vegetables and others, for we live near beaches, salty water and sand.Nice post.

At home I would keep tin cans, plastic bottles, shampoo bottles, toilet paper rolls, newspapers, brochures, fliers, glass bottles and mayo jars into separate plastic bags.
Every week, the recycle van would go house to house, asking for recycle items.
I get paid with a few cents for each KG ( LB ).
With these recycle items, I also make use of…[Read more]

Yes at home we do recycling. My mother separates the plastic bottles and keeps it somewhere at home because she sells it in the market. She earns money from it. That is why when we are outside and drink with plastic bottles, we take home the plastic bottles. We also recycle our food.
I also recycle my dress. I will mix match it just to be able to…[Read more]

Your mention of using newspaper as a mulch reminded me of a video I saw for squash pits. Apparently if you dig a moderately deep hole and jam it full of old phone books and other paper, it holds the water in the ground beneath your zucchini, pumpkins, squash, etc. It’s supposed to really improve their productivity!
Hmm, I added the video URL…[Read more]
