This is one of the first article being  written about the subject by me on my page Knowledge is Power Use It Wisely.  Travel has been taking since the time humans have evolved. Over a period of time with the invention of wheel things had gained pace and we are where we are today. But in the ancient times itself tourism has been an integral part of the world and its people.

There have been travel by due to necessity, some for  recreation, others for the purpose of religion, while a few more have been there which have been taking place for the purpose of self realization and meeting of people and different cultures. There has been immense exchange of knowledge and ideas taking place and the human society has evolved and has gone ahead intellectually, materialistically and spiritually.

Today travel and tourism has become an established industry and it has become a big tree and this tree has many branches. It is a force multiplier in providing employment as it comes under the service industry. But it has become quite cutthroat and highly competitive in nature. Especially due to computerization and online business.

We have basic, mundane and  specialized branches in the tourism field.  Each has its vital role in running the wheels of any countries economy. Thus helping in increasing the GDP and the foreign exchange reserves of the country. Many countries due to various dynamic reasons have not been able to meet hundred percent potential in their capacities as is the case with India. This gap between what is being done and what is supposed to be covered has to be narrowed for incomes to grow and national wealth to improve to the full potential.

Generally governments have been the driving force in this particular industry in majority of the countries, but now we see the involvement of private sector and  small scale entreprenuer sprouting in many places in this field which is a huge and substantial number. There is a growing role of the internet which has come to play a pivotal role in this field thus increasing the number of footfalls of the tourists or passengers in whichever group of the tourism industry.

With all these changes and exponential growth we can see a high potential for this sector. While there are several world bodies available in this particular field for the purpose of monitoring. There has to be proper cohesion between them to achieve the about the objective for which they have been setup.

We have a long way to go which we will be discussing individually and in detail by touching upon various problems faced by different service providers in these articles. For us to have a better understanding and insight of this particular industry for which I have great interest and would like it to see grow further. Request readers to write their suggestions, comments and feedback for future articles and topics of interest.

My point is why should the world bodies remind us of our heritage and the importance of Indian tourism? Don’t we have good planners to frame and protect our own Tourist places? Can’t we chalk out proper plans with proper planning to develop our Tourism Industry? Still, do we need the approval of the U.N to declare our ancient sites as World Heritage Centres? Can’t we improve them with some devotion or interest and with a sense of determination?

The Government of India has been allotting huge funds for the development of Tourism Industry. But this is not sufficient because most of the funds released are not being spent for which they have released Some middlemen and contractors are being benefited with the funds released than the actual developed required.

For example, the Srisailm temple is the oldest temple in Andhra Pradesh, South India It has been released good funds from the Government to improve the temple premises But, the selfish authorities instead of taking up development activities around the temple premises are taking up the development of the temple itself. They are not leaving the temple as it is untouched But  are allotting contracts to take up digging work or erecting poles inside the temple

The temple of Srisailam is having more iron bars inside than the original pillars These Iron bars and grills have been installed indiscriminately which spoiled the original look of the temple itself inside. The only excuse is ‘to control more a number of devotees visiting the temple it is imperative’ which is totally absurd. If they want they can accommodate the devotees outside the temple, the practice which they were adopting earlier. Let me leave it as nobody is interested in the temple

Coming to the surrounding one Executive officer of the same temple take up digging work even at the backside of the temple in the name of development He dug out the hill at many places which I had recorded along with the statement of the locals They say that the E.O has taken up this digging work just for TREASURE HUNT. If officers of this negative and criminal mentality are posted in such places where lies the sanctity of the temples?

This has been observed in many places and the Government is only maintaining silence for the best reasons known to it of course, just for political reasons.

I agree with you many of the bodies which we have are not upto the task. But this article is being written to address the problems of the travel agents. But your point is well taken. People with the wrong intent are kept in the job as you mentioned about temples being ignored. There are numerous temples which are having a remarkable history but have been ignored over the years. The surprising thing is when a temple generates revenue everyone runs to claim a share of the pie but few of the government help in the improvement of temples which are in dire need of development due to its religious relevance. The black sheep among the endowments departments and some contractors are also hand in glove in this mischief. The black sheep have to be weeded out in a systematic manner.
