After fighting major health battles, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and former film actress Madam Jayaram Jayalalitha passed away fighting the illness. In the end she suffered a heart attack yesterday which was unexpected and was kept in the ICU and was kept under observation for 24 hours. She breathed her last yesterday night at 11.30 pm at Apollo Hospital. She was 68 years old. Know as Puratchi Thalaivi or Revolutionary leader was born on 24th February 1948 in Melokote, Pandavapura Taluka, Mandya District, then Mysore State to Mr.Jayaram and Mrs.Sandhya. She was one of the strong woman politian of India who earned name and fame due to her talent, grit and sheer hard work.  She was famous for many of the schemes she launched for public and was the darling of the masses. The love between the leader and her constituency with supporters and detractors alike was magnetic. Mr.K.Karunanidhi leader of the opposition party and members of other political parties Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee along with  a host of leaders and a long list of members of the South Indian film industry paid their last respects to the departed Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. A huge crowd of supporters and other wailing fans of the J.Jayalalitha had been thronging the Apollo Hospital in Chennai since yesterday 22nd September 2016 and for the past more than 70 days when she was battling her health issues. The whole city of Chennai and the State of  Tamil Nadu is in a sense of grief over the passing away of the famous daughter of the state. The Central Government has declared one day mourning as a mark of respect for the departed soul of the serving Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

She was a highly intelligent, powerful, gritty and determined woman who has won many battles be it in her person, professional film life or as the politician and the leader of Tamil Nadu.  She was thrown out of the gun carriage when she wanted to be with her mentor for his last rites when he passed way and was humiliated and the voters did not like this and other insults hurled at her and voted in great numbers to give majority to her splinter party AIADMK. To her credit it must be said that even her worst political detractors acknowledge and respect her. She was fondly called Amma or mother as she had a pro poor image and took pains to solve their issues persistently. With her death the political future of the state is a bit uncertain till things settle down as no one can fit in her shoes now immediately. This certainly will take time.  She has left a political vacuum in the AIADMK party as there is no strong second rung leadership which is in existence and the party will now be  prone to infighting and pulls and pressures from other political groups. Surival of this party started by her mentor and former Chief Minister and Actor MGR or M.G.Ramachandran is at stake if the party does not fill this leadership vacuum and change from being cult or image based to cadre based party with proper leadership chain. The new Chief Minister in her place is going to be O.Paneerselvam   of the AIADMK party who has been unanimously elected.

About her acting career. She was very good in her studies and actually wanted to be study law and had excelled in her studies. Fate had other plans for her when she was a famous film actress as MGR wanted her to join his party to help him out with party work. She was not interested in politics and was pushed into it by fate. She has worked in more than 140 films in different South Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi too. She was very famous and an accomplished and has worked with stalwarts of Tamil film industry like Sivaji Ganesan, M.G.Ramachandran, K.Karunadhi to name a few and in Telugu film industry too. Some of her famous movies are Pudiya Bhoomi, Thaiku Thalaimagan, Ayirathil Oruvan to name a few she has won many national and regional awards and was a heartthrob of her fans in the film world. A enigmatic, colourful, strongwilled, gritty  and intelligent personality and a woman of substance whose life can be studied and many things can be learned about how to overcome difficulties and solve problems and help people. There is something valuable for all individuals to know from her life story.
