Movie Review: PINK The Revolution – Bollywood – Main Lead Actor Amitabh Bachchan

Leading actors Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of an retired lawer with his ill bedridden wife and Taapsee Pannu playing the role of Minal along with her two friends. Released in year 2016 directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury made with a budget of 230 million INR and with an earning of 1.064 billion INR has three songs jeene de mujhe by Faiza Mujahid, Kaari Kaari by Qurat ul ain Balouch and Tujhe se hi hai roshni by Anupam Roy. Minal is molested by son of a politician from whom she tries to defend herself from and in the process hits him leading to a injury. This leads to a chain of events where he wants to take revenge for the insult and tries to intimidate all the three friends especially Minal as it started because of her. The film potray’s how the rich and the powerful abuse and misuse political power and the system to serve them and trouble the victims with the same set of laws.
How women face awkard questions from the society and the police and legal fraternity who are supposed to protect them with special laws even though their are women in the police force they too end up standing with the system against the victims and see that justice is not done and hurdles are placed at each and every stage which makes women feel vulnerable and helpless as they are thought of and used as sex objects and have no mind of their own. Unless you get someone who knows the law and is willing to support the victims there is no hope of justice being done and punishment being meted to the perpetrators of the crime.
The movie also shows how society does not do its bit in protecting and securing women and looks at independent women with suspicion. The family which is also the last hope does not stand up for the victims. The movie ends after a long court room seen and the three girls literally harassed at each stage where they almost give up hope before finally getting justice in the end.
It potrays the changing times where women want to break the age old barriers and preset notions and lead a independent life and want to be treated as equals by merit and not due to patronage. A good show by the girls and Big B potray’s the character of the retired lawyer who stands up for justice with true professionalism. A powerful theme with a strong plot. The sound track and cinematography are well executed. All in all a movie with good social messaging.
