Greek culture, society and language and kingdoms are ancient and were famous are and are so even today. There are millions of unique articles and artefact and ancient kingdoms which existed during those times when it was a golden age for this culture. This article in world history deals about the Red-figured amphora. Red-figured amphora is made of ceramic. Its height is 63 cms, and is of Greek origin. Found at Vulci. Made in Athens it is attributed to the Euergides Painter dating around the period 525 -500 B.C. It is a combination of black, red and light red colors and has holders on both the sides which have a strong grip. The top of the holders is starts from the neck and ends at the oval round middle part. With a round base on which again a light red round coloring is painted. There are some design patterns on a continuous basis forming a circle around the Red figured amphora. Its mouth is wide again is in a circular form. The ceramic is strong and sturdy. On the red figured vase, the figures are reserved in red clay against a black slipped background, with inner details painted in black or brown with a brush, which allowed a great fluidity of line. One side of the vase shows Dionysos(the wine-god) in the center. He is holding a vine and drinking cup. He is accompanied by a satyr, Briachos and a maenad named Erophylis, who holds an ivy caped fennel rod and a snake. The the other side shows a hoplite warrior, his horse and a man named Serague wearing Scythian dress. It is a beauty to watch and lots of minute details can be observed and the painting and ceramic work can be well appreciated. One of the beauties of Greek painting and art on a ceramic vessel.
